Dear all,
I have done my M.C.A (Masters in computer applications, Mumbai university). I am interested in knowing the suitable courses that i can apply for in Canada. I have approximately over 6 years of professional experience as a developer as well.

Based upon my preliminary research I have found a few options myself.

1. MSc in computer science(Vancouver)
2. Masters of information technology in information security(MITS)
3. MENG(not sure if i am eligible for this course)

Your valuable guidance is greatly appreciated,

Sincerely,
Philip

You should check SFU and UBC for either Masters or Phd., depending on your ultimate objective (not clear to me from your statements) there are other "lesser" or less well known Universities in BC.

If you come from an accredited masters program in India than you should get credits toward admissions into a either a Canadian Masters or Phd. program.

But given your experience and skill set why do you want to Study for another few years?

Why not get employed in the Tech sector in Canada or the US with your experience / qualifications?

Thanks for your reply,
My ultimate objective is to gain PR and settle in Canada.
That said, it seems to me that there is already a heavy backlog of applications for PR in Canada...which probably may take a few years to clear.
Otherwise Canada express entry was the most suitable choice for me.

However there were a few concerns:
1. Mixed responses to Indian education, One of my friends told me that indian degrees might not have equivalent value in the eyes of prospective employers, though i really fail to see why. Consultants beg to differ on that one.
2. I was told that I would need reference letters from my employers with the company letter heads. This is something that i cant provide, as the companies that i work for are big MNCs. Its against their policy to give out such letterheads. The only alternative was to apply to Quebec which didnt insist on that, however i am not sure if canada express entry has relaxed on that condition now, i didnt enquire as i had already applied to quebec.
3. It turns out that quebec entry is going to be delayed by 60 months , so now i am in a fix.

It was only due to the above mentioned reasons, that i decided to choose the student option.

Maybe i am a little misinformed , however any valuable advice from your side in this matter is greatly appreciated,

Sincerely,
Philip.

1. Most Canadian Employers place zero value on Indian graduates with Degrees from India unless your in some highly specialized field from a well known Indian University like ITT etc Engineering etc, it's not logical but based on long term racial bias, I tell you this as a Canadian,

2. Immigration Consultants - I would not listen to anything they have to say as they just want to make their "Fees" and only deal with licensed listed immigration Consultants on the Canada Government website not those in India that are not Canadian certified by the Government of Canada,

3. wait to see what reply you get from Quebec, you have little choice now other than to apply for a Study Permit and hope you get it,

Basically the Quebec process is listed on your profile within Immigration Canada's database so you would have to explain strongly to them why you are applying for a study permit.
