I am.in canada and i have private.insurance that covers pregnancy i really want ?a baby and want to start trying soon, we are still waiting on my FbI paper to come in to send in my papers, should i try getting pregnant now or wait until my papers are sent. Me and my husband have a very good criminal record credits good dont owe nothing money am American getting sponsored to Canada by him and i have insurance that covers pregnancy/birth what do you guys think?

As long as your medical is done, go ahead.

I think theres still more to think of than the 2 points of being together and being covered for pregnancy! You havent started the application yet, you dont know what you still have to face during the process, maybe it takes longer than expected, maybe you have to seperate between, maybe in worst case is refused. Not to scare you, but you should consider all and the whole picture. I was thinking about the same, but i thought realistical about all and not just pull my wish through cause i want it, theres big responsibility for a kid! I decided to wait even if its hard, its much safer and dont want to worry about the process during pregnancy. Its of course just my opinion and its your decision! But try to consider everything and make a plan that benefits not just your wish but goes for whats the best for your baby.

Is this coverage from your husbands employer? if so you need to read the fine print, because to be covered by private insurance from an employer the person must either be a Canadian PR or Citizen. If you found private travelers health care that covers pregnancy you need to share that link as it is pretty hard to find... I understand wanting a baby, alot of woman would understand, you said you were American you should get processed pretty fast I got my visa in 6 months and 16 days from the day they received my application so it might be wise to wait a few months, you can land in Canada while your pregnant, infact my passport request said...
NOTE: If you are expecting a child and are able to land in Canada before the child is born, you should do so. Failure to land before additional dependants are born will result in the need for a new application and new fees for all family members.

anyways Good Luck!

Agreed. I would triple check that you're covered for pregnancy. It's extremely rare that pregnancy is covered if you don't have provincial health care.

Thanks everyone for your help and yes no its not from my husband its my own private insurance they pay up to 80% of birth its called TIC travel insurance and i am very happy i found it! I am only paying 84$ a month for it to so very cheap and convient!

Also i would be giving birth in canada so i wouldn't need to do a whole new application i was just talking to CIC Canada on the phone and she told me all i have to do when i give birth is send my babies birth certificate to them thats an if i did not get my papers in yet! :D Kinda lost but i will think about it harder..Thank you everyone!

Ahhh this is cool! as long as you we not pregnant at the time or within a month of purchases the insurance it covers 80%

http://www.travelinsurance.ca/plans/expatHospitalMedical.php?ptxSource=Expat
Maternity Benefit: If the expected delivery date is more than 10 months after the policy start date, 80% of the medical costs for the insured mother will be covered (to a maximum of $25,000).

I knew there had to be a way around the pregnancy is a pre-existing condition just apply for it before you get pregnant LOL not bad tho only have to pay 2,000 out of pocket for a 10,000 dollar delivery... Good Luck with your decision!

If the child is born in Canada, then (s)he automatically gets Canadian citizenship - no? then why the process of adding the child to the application? i think that would be just to keep record - thats it.

If the decision of you having children rests on the opinion of a bunch of strangers on an Internet forum, you might want to reconcider

Don't you think the decision would have been made on a "variety of information" rather than "bunch of strangers"?

Does it matter how you word it?

We are talking about a kid, not "Should i get a real, or a fake christmas tree"

What matters is how the OP treats the information (or opinions) expressed here and how it impacts her. Not simply decide something based on what is said here. Being open to new ideas was never a bad idea.

The child would be Canadian yes, and would not have to be added to the application as a sponsored person but added as her child, that was born and living in Canada. Both my children were born in the US but were Canadian citizens by birth I had to include them on my application.
