**NEED HELP & ADVICE** Been over 1 month and have not heard from CIC

Dear forum readers, Me and my spouse submitted our application for IMM5401 on FEB 21st (the date document indicate was received) in Mississauga office. Since then we have not receive any documentation from CIC which is making me extremely concerned I tried the online application status check via our CIC application receipt but it had given us the generic response saying either to check the wait time or the documents have yet to be processed. A week and a half ago I finally received a letter and it was a blank light pink receipt with blank boxes in it.

I had then called CIC and the agent was unable to pull up my file based on the receipt # I had provided which was very puzzling to me. I also mentioned the blank light pink receipt and she says it must have been an error. She then suggested I try submitting my concern on the CIC website providing document that show the date when my application was sent as well as the receipt for the application. I'm not sure if i am being sent on a goose chase but the whole dilemma makes me think they had misplace my file.

At this point, what would be my best course of action? Advises needed please..

don't worry! if you look at the application processing times, you will see that they say they are still processing applications from March 12. They say to give at least 30 days until you call them. Even though the "average" time says 28 days, remember that probably means working days, CIC was closed yesterday and will be closed on monday because of the holidays. Technically, you haven't even reached 28 or 30 days.

There is a march applicant thread i would suggest joining. You will see a lot of us are in the same boat. My application was received on March 17th, and the only reason i heard from them was because we forgot a form in our package -which freaked me out! Other people who sent their application around the same time as or before me are just starting to get their acknowledgement of receipt (AOR), some people haven't received that yet, and no one has received Sponsorship approval (SA), as far as I can tell. We are all anxiously waiting for some good news next week! FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED!

Also, I have learned the receipt numbers given on the payment receipts are not what are used to access information on the website. I believe we get our case number to use with our sponsorship approval letter, and it takes about a week after that for it to kick into the system. the site was also experiencing major problems last week, so that may be what the pink screen was about.

So, no stress yet my friend... definitely check out the march applicant thread, and add your name to the spreadsheet so we can track your progress.

Thank you so much rhcohen2014 for your quick response! I will definitely be following the thread, only wish they could some how acknowledge the existence of our applications. After all the time and energy that was spent to prepare the documents required it would be a big hassle to redo it once more. Fingers cross & toes cross like you said, thanks for the optimism and insight!

It hasn't been 28 business days yet. Also after your file gets transferred to the appropriate VO, you should be prepared for many months where you will receive no response or updates from eCas or the VO itself, and this is normal.

Sorry I had a typo on my original post. Document was sent in February and was received on the 21st of FEB. Should I be worried now??? :-[

have both of you checked emails and spam folders? my husband (the sponsor) received the email about the missing document. go to the february app thread and see what the trend is there, maybe they can provide more insight?

Similar situation on my end as rhcohen2014. My initial docs were received of Feb 7, however I was missing a form. I got a letter on March 4 asking to submit the missing form which I did on March 12. Ecas indicated that my Application was received March 13 and Sponsorship approval was granted March 31 (I learned about it on Apr 8). You should be getting something soon, otherwise if I were you I'd call again mid next week (Wed or Thu) first thing in the morning.

In that case, yeah you're way over the processing time and you should call CIC ASAP.

out of curiousity, how were you able to check ECAS if you didn't receive an AOR? or is the request for missing document the AOR, and information for ECAS on there?!?!

Actually, sorry Emily, I was wrong. The 28 days, according to CIC, are CALENDAR days, not business days, so you definitely should've gotten your sponsor approval and AOR by now.

When I received the first letter asking for missing forms, I was provided with a UCI #. ECAS was updated around March 25th with the AOR (citing March 13th as the date for AOR).

We had originally sent in our document in Dec. 2013 and then a month later we received a letter stating we were missing 1 piece of document. Followed the instruction from the letter resubmitted in FEB. I had called in last week and will try again on Tuesday when they are open but I'm scared to be given the same answer. If they were still unable to track down our application, and I had submitted an inquiry via CIC website is there anywhere I can address my issues to? Or should I be prepared to go thru the entire process of resubmitting... :'

rhcohen2014: I had the receipt # from submitting payment online via CIC website. I was not able to check via ECAS because the response was:
We were not able to identify you using the information you provided.
The official receipt sent to me started with R then followed by numbers.

You are correct. I just checked my documentation and I should rectify my response.

When I was asked to submit missing forms, I was given a File # and not a UCI. The file # started with XF000026.... I only received the UCI on March 25h which would've been two weeks after I submitted the missing documentation.

Emily you won't be able to check with the payment receipt, many have tried and failed (me included ). You can only check it with the File # F00000000 or the UCI#. Check your letter of missing documents you received and see if there is a file number. If not. Call CIC on Tuesday and ask if they can give you your file number as since December you have not received an AOR.
