I have Canadian citizenship and my husband has permanent residency. During the 4 years we were outside Canada, we were studying some courses in the English language and other things in Canadian universities (online) and we were receiving student aid (OSAP) (without knowing that this is only for those actually residing in Canada). Now my husband received a letter asking him to provide proof of our children’s expenses, housing rent and many details. Of course, we do not have any of these papers because we have not entered Canada for 4 years (do you have a solution to this problem)?

So you got OSAP and were not eligible for it? They want proof you have been residing in Canada and are resident of Ontario. So show your proof of residence in Canada. Expect to be asked to pay it back.

What to do ? It states on the osap application you have to reside in Ontario

Call them up set up a payment plan

Why would it make sense that the Ontario Government fund people living outside the province to take courses online ?

No, it wouldn’t make sense

Btw you don’t pay that amount will go into collections and it’ll be offset and applied to any credits you are expecting from the Government.
