Dear all,

I have a query. If I am not wrong, we need to send an official letter describing our 'job duties' (from CIC to decide on our NOC category ) from our existing companies (i.e. where we are working) along with our PR application. However, sometimes it is risky from an employees perspective to demand for such a letter.

Here comes my question! What if I am unable to obtain such a letter from my employee? shall my PR application be rejected or is there any alternative?

Please guide me friends.

Hello Shrini, Answer to your question is: Yes, there is a high chance that your application might get rejected w/o the experience letter. Do one thing as follows, which is what i did :)

First of all, you know which NOC code you will fall under.
Go to the HRSDC website to find the job duties for that NOC.
Create an experience letter with the list of job duties from that website. Of course, do not copy paste all the duties. Only paste the ones that match your experience.
Send it to your employer for approval.
Persuade him. If nothing works, let me know.

Thanks a ton SaravK....your suggestion is extremely helpful.....but, as any other employee, I am the victim of dirty office politics.....and I would never get a letter of any sort that would boost up my chances of successful PR application.........I can clear off all other obstacles in the PR process.....my brain is damn frozen, not working at all... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

hey shrinivas1980
if your reference letter doesn't include duties and you have been unsecsusfull getting one from your direct manager or HR manager, you can try to get it from a co-worker who witnessed that you have performed those duties(just make sure that the co-worker held a higher or equal position as yours during that time) it should be on company letter head,if not just a plain white paper and include company contact information plus signature and contact information of the signing person.
if you can't even get it from your co-worker then just use the reference letter you have and back it up with as much documents as possible that will help the officer determine that you had peformed your job duties,in this case try to get a reply by email from your HR or manager saying that they don't issue such a letter and include it with your application as supporting documnet along with a nice cover letter.
good luck

Thanks a ton Canadavisa for your extended opinion. But, no colleague will take that risk to recommend me for my PR application purpose. Nevertheless, I must add that all other suggestions from you are quite achievable. But, the requirement of this type of letter should not be mandatory.

ECA is more than enough. If ECA states that my Ph.D. (Chemical Technology) is equivalent to the Ph.D. (Chemical Technology/Engineering) of Canada, irrespective what job duties I am performing in my present company, I will be able to do the duties aligning to a Chemical Engineer. Moreover, it is risky to ask for a letter to an employer as it can hamper my growth there.
