Hi,
You did not describe well. You said you got the PR approved and went to the boarder for crossing.
1.Did you get a PR Visa already or not ?
2.Did you make the landing ?
3. If so when and where ?

However if you are already a PR and if you are out of Canada without PR Card, you can return with a PRTD issued from the Canadian Mission at the country where you are.

Hi,

SEEING HIS QUERY, I HAD A QUERY.

1. I have got PR booked the ticket going for landing to canada and want to return back to home country after 10 days. In that case my PR card would not have arrived, But hope that i would be allowed to leave canada?

2. My PR card would be mailed to me and i would return with the card after few months..permanentlhy

hi wilson
1. already lan ded, have been working in canada for almost 4 years now.
2. yes already made landing in coutts border
but the document that is attached to my passport "confirmation of permanent residency
states not valid for travel.

It's a Travel Document. Are you visa exempt?

Hi jimmy,

Your plan is good. There is no problem for exit from Canada after landing, prior to getting the PR Card. If you arrange for mail or bring with any friend or relative (if possible) would be fine.

The copy of COPR is not a valid document for travel and you will not be allowed for a re-entry to Canada with that paper. Being a PR you should be in possession of a PR Card. If your PR Card is delayed call the CIC Call Center and ask about the status of PR Card.

PRTD is known for short form of Permanent Resident's Travel Document.

Guys , I have a question now. What I understand from the seniors of this forum is that when passport is issued with the VISA stamping on it, I think it will be valid for 6 months before when you should do the landing. So even after landing, can we not use the same VISA to leave Canada and enter once again?

Hi Daniel,

The information you have is not correct.

The validity of the stamped PR visa is up to :
1. date of your medical
2. validity of your passport, which ever is earlier.

Eg:If your passport expires in 3 months then your visa also expires.

Now, once you make landing within the expiry date of your PR visa, the Immigration Officer at the POE will cross out your visa with his pen and will make an arrival stamp with date and initial on your passport. Your COPR will be endorsed with necessary remarks and a copy will be given to you.

You cannot use any more that PR visa for repeated entry to Canada if you travel out of the country. You have to use your PR card or obtain PRTD in lieu of PR Card. Hope you are clear now. :D
