Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I recently met up with a batch mate of mine who had the following plan advised to her by a consultant and her boyfriend.

1. Take up a one year course in management or any other field of interest on a paid basis at a good University at Canada
2. Go to Canada by a student visa for one year.
3. She was told by a consultant that a one year student visa would entitle her to a one year work permit
4. The consultant also told her that a 2 year stay at Canada makes one eligible to apply and receive a PR in a very short period of time
Settle down there
The consultant quoted around INR 3000.00 has his charges to help select a course, courier papers etc and advised that the total cost of the one year course there(Canada) including the cost of living for one year would approximately come to 9 lac INR.
Out of this, around 4.5 lacs would be the course fee and the rest, all other expenses
Can the forum please let me know if this is a sensible and viable option?
Thank you very much for your support.

The consultant is probably talking about Canadian experience class. She would need to go on a student visa for 2 years and then work for one to be eligible for that. A 2 year course would get her a 3 year post grad work permit.

at this time...i do not have the resources to go for a 2 years' course as expenditure would be of 20,00,000 INR. Also the consultant mentioned that a 1 year course is sufficient to get 1 year work permit. If this is correct, m i eligible to apply for the PR when i am near the completion of my 1 year work permit after the course?

Not under Canadian experience class. For that, you need 2 years study and 1 year work. Ask the consultant what immigration class he/she is talking about. There is also a possibility with a provincial nominee program but you would have to pick your province well. For example, there is this program in Saskatchewan: http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/student and this one in BC: http://www.welcomebc.ca/wbc/immigration/come/work/about/strategic_occupations/international_graduates/who.page? These programs require you to have found a job. In SK, you must have worked for a while before you can apply.

Ontario and BC also offer immigration programs for people who complete a masters or PhD in their provinces.

You could also apply under a PNP in another province as a skilled employee with employer support but you need an employer who is willing to support your immigration.

You can find all the immigration programs at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp

Hello Leon,
Thanks again for your useful advise here and there on the forum.
Please you mentioned that an Msc or PHD from ontario can qualify you for a PNP, i thought its PHD alone? Also please does it mean whether you get a job after school or not you qualify? i need to know so i can apply for MBA as this Skilled worker might take time and i sincerely want to start my MBA by next year
