Hi,

Myself, my spouse and my two children are Canadian citizens.

I was living in Canada for seven months in Canada in 2020 while my wife and my children are living outside of Canada in whole 2020 year.

Therefore, I am planning to file Tax return in 2021 for 2020 and submit CTB9 Income of Non-Resident Spouse or Common-Law Partner for the Canada child benefit application for my wife.

My wife and my children are going to live outside of Canada. Only myself is living in Canada for seven months each year going forward.

I want to know whether we are eligible to receive Canada child benefits for my two children in this case?

Any idea?

Thanks

You are not eligible. Your children need to be living with you in Canada in order for you to be eligible to apply.

Are you eligible?
To get the CCB, you must meet all of the following conditions:
  1. You must live with the child, and the child must be under 18 years of age.
  2. You must be the person primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child.

Thank you very much. It is really helpful. I wanted to get an idea. Now I know about it.
