I am planning to apply for a visa. I am single employed as a manager for 5 years now. I want to visit Canada for two weeks I have $4000 CAD in my bank account... I am be being invited by a friend. I don't have kids however I am a gardian to a 6 years old boy who's parents live in the US. I also have life insurance.. I know no one can tell me what my chances are but from experience I'm hoping someone can tell me if I have a good enough case to apply.
What documents can I provide to show I am a guardian for this child
I have all my bank statements and my job letter
Any assistance would be appreciated

I don't see how your guardianship of the child is relevant to your visitor visa application?

However, if it is (child travelling with you, perhaps?), the documents required would probably be the court order awarding you guardianship.

I am not traveling with the child but since I am the Guardian wouldn't that be considered a tie to my County?

Hi,

Do have a look at the Document Checklist for your country of residence on the CIC website. Submitting only the employment letter + bank statement will not be enough.

Apart from this:
Your employment is a good tie..... you must also submit a leave approval letter from your employer + 6 months pay stubs + Income Tax Returns

Do you have family who live with you/in your home country? Property? Leased accommodation? Financial investments? Previous travel history?

You being a guardian to the child can help as a tie if you are able to provide evidence that the child's parents have left the child in your care.... for example: proofs of a common address + letter to the school authorities + you attending school meetings as the child's guardian + government proofs, etc

Is CAD 4000 the only finances that you can show/have? It is on the low side for a 2 weeks visit + airfare + incidental expenses

Have you drawn up a day-by-day itinerary/purpose of visit?

What documents will your friend provide?

Cheers :)

Thanks for replying :D

I do have six months pay slips and my bank statements .. my boss put in the job letter that I do have 18 days approved leave ...can a letter from the child's parents be used to show I am responsible for her?.....I didn't have any itinerary but I can do it... I live with my parents they don't work Im the only one employed at my house.. by the time I'm ready to apply I would have gotten my salary and will be ableasier to show 7000 CAD and by the time I'm ready to travel will be able to save more .... my friend is inviting me she visited me last month and I showed her the best time so she is eager to return the favor

In the letter confirming your job, your boss should also confirm that you are expected back at work on X date.

Provide an approximate itinerary.

A letter from the parents of your ward is useless as proof of your ties to your home country, and may even complicate the issue. A legal (court order/court ratified) document confirming your guardianship, might help show ties.

Hi,

Do you file your income tax returns? You must submit those as well.

You can show your parents as a family tie.... do submit evidence that you live together and they are dependent on you.

Any sudden increase in your bank balance must be explained..... in this case, do submit the most recent 6 months pay slips.

The day-by-day itinerary that you prepare can include expense estimates.... and although your friend will provide accommodation and take care of travel and living expenses, you must demonstrate that you have the finances to support your visit.

Do provide evidence that you are responsible for looking after the child (Temporary Guardianship Letters to the school/government authorities signed by the child's parents + proofs that the child resides at the same address as yourself + other proofs for school meetings, etc)

Cheers :)
