HI. I'm looking for advisement. I found out Thursday by sheer luck that my representative (now finding out he is an assistant) has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks and may continue to be there for the next couple of months for a serious issue. There is no coverage going on (as the assistant is the only worker, I never talked or met with the owner - the actual IRCC registered rep), no emails are getting checked, and in fact I found out something was wrong because my email was sent back as undeliverable hours after I sent an email and then called the office where the guys mother answered and told me. Obviously this puts my husband and I at worry because what if CIC sends the rep something? I ended up calling IRCC last week in regards to our application which was never told to us by the rep probably because he's been in the hospital and they told me some information. I wouldn't have gotten the medical request if I wasn't on top of things and viewing what I can from ecas and immediately sent him a text and called the office which he wasn't there but somehow sent me the sponsor approval and med exam request email a few minutes later. He hasn't updated us with anything during the process because I know CIC doesn't email a person regarding every update and as a business there is a responsibility to the clientele especially for something like this where you get 30 days to get back to CIC with what they want if they request something. I tried emailing the owner and actual consultant with IRCC this morning and I got back another failure to deliver notice marked as undeliverable. I called the number that a member in a FB group suggested to report them to ICCRC and they said the business should be reported so they can look into it but I'd have to reveal myself. I just think this whole thing is weird. I did end up speaking with IRCC yesterday about the situation and the representative I spoke to said I should file a complaint and report them and told me to fill out the form to remove them. He emailed me with links and information to do both. Does a representative who is an immigration consultant actually do anything after the application is submitted besides pass information along? We paid around $3300 for help with filling out the forms and submitting the application. I heard and maybe someone can clarify this, if a representative is removed it could possibly withdrawal your application? Just wondering if there is anything else for them to actually do at this point. Since my application is in process is there any reason to continue having a representation for our application?

I would cancel the contract with him and have your spouse assign you as the unpaid representative. Also report his office as u wouldn't like another person to fall into the same situation. Were u able to find out from immigration what stage are your documents at? Trust me it isn't that complicated to complete the application on your own. You dont want to end up with nothing after paying out all that money. There are plenty of people in the group threads that will help. Good luck!

You can always opt out for rep on your application. Just fill the form to cancel your rep on the application. You would then be on your own and monitor application from ECAS and GCKEYS.IF YOU link your application online after the cancellation of your rep.

I think I will cancel him using the representative form and report him. I found out that if something happened they need to assign someone to work on their cases not just leave clientele to be in a position with no one to communicate with. I have updates in my signature. It was delivered to Sydney on Jan 11, 2019 and then transferred to CPC-Mississauga March 19, 2019. The parts that have been completed are sponsor approved, medical exam was requested and completed though no word on passed, and background check is in process. That's what it looks like currently. So they did help somewhat but I mean my husband and I did a lot of the work ourselves and I even corrected quite a few errors on the application before submitting it.

Yes, your current rep. is in clear violation of multiple ICCRC ethical requirements towards his client (you). A good representative does a lot more than just filling out forms. They are supposed to advise and guide you and ensure that your application has the best chance of success. Not just palm you off to an unqualified assistant and take your money.

Cancel this rep and report him to the ICCRC.

Thank you @Attak and @21Goose .

I think that is what I will do. I am looking at the form and putting my information for the applicant (I am the PA) and stating Family Class-Permanent Residence for the application. I hope that is right? I read on CIC that only one form needs to be submitted with my signature and my husband's. Since we live apart and most likely won't see each other until after the school semester is over next month I am planning on filling out the information and then sending him the document to print off and sign then upload and send back to me where I'll print off that copy and sign, then upload and submit to the webform. Does that sound like that should be okay?

I had no idea there were so many ethics and guidelines an immigration representative has to follow. And honestly @21Goose that is exactly what happened. I have never met or had any communication with the actual representative. I tried even emailing him and that email was sent back as undeliverable. I tried the one last email I had for the business but I haven't gotten a failure to send or anything back yet. But I do think this is the best route. I was hesitant because I was afraid that the application would be withdrawn because of a removal of a representative. As long as I am with my husband in the end that is what matters but this is ridiculous.

If you both need to sign, you ought to sign the same form - as in, don't sign, scan, and then print and have the other person sign.

Why don't you fill the form, then send that PDF to your husband. He can print it, sign it, and mail you the signed form. You then sign it, and scan that form, and upload it. Both your signatures will be on the same piece of paper.

I don't know if it's a big deal, but why take a chance.

I was worried about that actually. I might be better off asking him his availability on the weekend and try to compare with mine and meet up to do this if at all possible. I definitely don't want to wait for another month.
