We put it off so long, and it's been a hassle trying to find information. I don't even know if this is the place to do it. But I thought I'd give it a try.

My husband currently lives in the U.S going to school and working full-time, he's an American citizen as well. We just got married 3 weeks ago, but we have been trying to look up information on how we can go about him moving to Canada and working right away as we are expecting a child in January so we need him to be able to work as soon as possible once he gets here.

I'm currently a full-time student so I'm guessing sponsoring is out of the picture for us. I just want to know what our best bet is going to be, to get him in as soon as we can. We want to at least be living together by next summer for the sake of our son.

If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated and if this isn't the place to find information maybe someone could tell me where to go / where to look.

Any reason why you want to rule out sponsoring your spouse? The Low-Income-Cut-Off does not apply to sponsoring spouse. One can still sponsor if you show you have the skills and qualifications to make a living.

I believe you can still sponsor him even though your are a full-time student seeing as there are no income requirements to sponsor.

Depending on what he does for a living he may be able to apply directly for a work permit and go in as a skilled worker as well.

There is about 7 months till summer time-- I'd suggest applying outland now and hopefully you may have a nice and speedy application. =)

As stated there is no income requirement for spousal sponsorship... your best bet, file now, out-land this way the process will be going and he can remain in the US wrapping up school and working, once he is approved he will be able to make the move get his SIN and start working as soon as he lands. CIC is stating 12 months for US but most are done much faster mine was done in 6 1/2 months I am just waiting to land so 7 months by the time I do that. everything you need will be here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp make sure to scroll down to the country specific instructions for the US. Good Luck!

Also - you can file outland ( as the previous post suggested) and at the same time, look at NAFTA programm ( search NAFTA on this forum) - if your husband fits into the categories, he could get a work permit right away, and then when his PR comes through, he could switch.
good luck,
