I am living in Hong Kong and my husband is a Canadian. We just got married for 2 weeks (in Canada) and my husband wants to sponsor me to come to Canada. We have the following questions:

1) We are not sure if we should apply inside or outside Canada.

2) Since we communicate on skype most of the time in the past 5 years and I visited him once each year since we are in a relationship, we do not have phone bills to prove that our relationship are geniune, what can we do?

3) My husband is currently unemployed, but we do have a house and some savings, does this affect the application?

We appreciate if anyone could give us some advice. Thanks

I would apply outside Canada - it's faster.

As for proving your relationship there are many ways to do this. Do you have pictures together? family outings, visits? get references from friends etc. how about emails or cards you gave to each other. Keep your flight info and really any communication on paper the both of you have.

Him being unemployed won't effect your case. As long as he can show he is able to support both of you witjhout gov't assistance you will be ok. Additionally, is he receiving welfare now? if so - that's a deal breaker.

There are planty of great support here and I wish you all the best.

Exactly as Jaytheo40 said :)

I would also add that you can export your skype conversations into excel, and print that. It took an extra 30 minutes, but I also added up the hours of skype chatting for our application, and how many times we skyped, so I think that helped. We also did a printout summary of all the emails (as well as listed the total number of emails), and printed some "sample" emails that we thought would indicate our relationship well.

For the unemployment, it doesn't matter as long as neither of you have any children, and as long as your husband is not on any kind of income assistance, etc.

Best of luck!!

Thanks Jaytheo40 and ElaBella for your advice.
