Expired H4 is ok but what is the current status of that particular individual??

Then you should be good. As long as you have a valid status you can enter back within 30days.

Thank you so much! I’ve been searching for an answer everywhere. So a h4 visa expired and cos to h1b with i797a approval is good to be back from Canada to USA within 30 days. That’s good to know! I’m planning to do soft landing in this month. Thanks for your help

Yes, it is applicable for H4 as well.
