Hi guys ,

I have searched this topic on different forums but could not find the answer , I would really really appreciate if some one can answer,

I have applied for E.I parental in April 2014 , it has been more than 32 days since I applied , the web site says that within 28 days first payment should be made (or a decision shall be made), they have all my documents , I worked for 2 employers in the past 52 weeks , the 1st emloyer I worked for was only for a week and then I quit and then the 2nd and most recent emloyer, for about 10 months , and worked about 1260 hours ,(service canada requirements is 600 hours in the past 52 weeks) my question is would quitting my last job should effect my application ? I have already phoned service canada , they say that I should wait for about a week and then phone back , plz help

Quitting a job voluntarily unless you resigned due to circumstance amounting to Constructive dismissal may effect an application, however in your case you worked with a different employer after resigning- if the employer terminated your services due to business reasons(lack of work) then you may be entitled to EI.

Good Luck

The first job I only continued for 5 days, due to personal reasons I had to quit , then the second job (almost continued for 10 months), then I had a baby in December 2013, I waited till April 2014 and then I gave a notice to my employer that I wanted to go on Parental leave so employer would keep my job till December 2014 so technically I did not quit the second or current job but I am on absence leave (technically I am still on job ) Thanks for your Answer :)

Hi guys ,

Thanks for your comments on this topic,I got approved for Paental E.I , I just want to give you guys a few tips that might be helpful to those in need of help on Parental E.I , ok , so if the 28 days period passes and you have given them all your documents , then instead of phoning the call centre , its better to go to the nearest Service Canada office and tell them that you are in "dire need " of money , so they would email that to the processing centre and also call "office of client satisfation " 1866-506-6806 and make a fomal compaint that the 28 days mark has passed and you need the money urgently, you know what within 48 hours expect your claim to be decided , and your payments within 72 hours , good luck and Thanks guys :)
