Dear All,

Good day.

I have an inquiry and would like to know your feedback and recommendations.

I have submitted my PR application in Jan 2020 and waiting the approval. Hope so

My spouse passport will be expired on 21st June 2021. Are there any recommendations to do anything now? Should I renew the passport at this stage or wait the approval first? I am afraid that the process will be delayed if I sent any update request.

Please advise

Best

No need to do anything right now. There is no delay if he renews his passport.

Thank you for the feedback. Could you explain further. When it is recommended to renew it? Once renewed, I will send the update form and then the new details will be updated. That's it?

I have no idea how long your country takes to renew a passport.

So, I will renew the passport then submit an update request via the web form. Right?
Only submit the update request after you have the new passport's details and new bio page.

Honestly this is nothing to worry about. I submitted a renewed passport for my PR visa stamping without ever emailing IRCC beforehand of the new details. There were no delays.

Thank you for the update. Really? When was that? But how did they update the new passport details? I do not know why I am worried. But I shouldn't any more.
I believe I still have time, I am just afraid that the approval will be granted at a time when I did not renew the passport yet. I still have until June 2021 for the expiry date. Meanwhile I am waiting for PR approval. So you advise to renew now or when the approval is granted? In this case the visa expiry will be until June 2021. This is also another worry for me.

They update it by deleting the old passport number and typing in the new one. Seriously, this is not something to worry about.

When to renew? It is up to you. Not sure if your country is processing non-urgent passport applications, or how long it will take them, or your personal plans for travelling, so it's really your judgment call.

In the hypothetical absolute worst case that you get PPR on the old passport in June 2021, you can request IRCC for an extension to submit your passport over 30 days and explain you have to renew the passport. If you get PPR and the renewal is still processing and it will arrive after the 30 day deadline...again, request for an extension. You have a valid reason for the extension anyway.

As you have been repeatedly told, this is nothing to worry about at all.
