I got an offer of a post-doctoral research position in a university in Canada. I have accepted the offer and I have stated to start the job on Oct/15/2013. Is it a reasonable time frame to obtain work permit? I have a PhD from a Canadian University, and after my graduation I worked in USA for 1.5 years. Now I work in India.
My post graduation work permit (PGWP) is expired, so I must apply for a work permit at New Delhi visa office. In the past I have never applied for a Canadian work permit myself. I am bit apprehensive of obtaining a work permit in the next 2 months, considering the ongoing strike by visa officials.
Somebody please suggest me a place where I can start my application for New Delhi office (online)? Please note that I do not need an LMO to take this position. When I gather all the documents for myself and my wife, we will personally go to the New Delhi visa office and apply. Do we need to book an appointment a priori?
Another twist- My PR application is in process at CPP-Ottawa. Both myself and my wife have completed our medicals for our PR application and hoping to obtain passport request (PPR) from Ottawa in another 1-2 months. I am sincerely hoping my PPR from Ottawa does not clash with my work permit application at NDVO. Do we need to submit our passports at New Delhi when we hand in the application? In that case I might be in problem as my PPR from Ottawa is round the corner.
I know it is complicated. I am looking for some expert advice on this. Can I get a work permit and a TRV while my PR application is in process? Advise please.
