Hi all,

I am having problem deciding what to put for the expiry date of National Identity Document. Specifically, on Page 2 of the IMM 0008 (Generic Application Form for Canada IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf ), the pdf's new Validation scheme won't let me finish the document unless I put down a meaningful date for the Expiry Date field (Can't be blank, can't be **** nor "Not applicable/available").
In Vietnam (where I'm from), the National ID card does not expire, it simply gets replaced in the case of loss/stolen/worn out.
Please let me know if you have run into this scenario, and what you think I should do about this.

Thanks, guys!

Pick a date that is a long way off, then add a separate note to your application to explain what you have done and why.

Don't bother putting CMND # there as you may need to attach its copy to prove there is no expiration.

Your passport should shows it well though, but again no expiration for that. Is it an option, "if applicable"?

i heard there is a presumption of 15-year validity of CMND, check it with your local police stn in Vietnam.

@amydoan:

Thanks, a friend of mine actually found a document from the VN ministry of justice website, and it does state that "valid for 15 years".
I'm submitting my CMND (National ID, for the non-Viet folks) with the application too.

Have you submitted your application already? Are you from Toronto/GTA?

Cheers,
