Name difference between canadian and indian passport - surrender passport question

Hi - My name on indian passport is

FN: XX A YY
LN: ZZ

My name on canadian passport is (i changed using legal name change certificate from BC)

FN: XX
LN: ZZ

If i apply for surrender certificate, do i need to apply the name same as indian passport or can i use my new name and submit legal name change as supporting document?

Anyone in same boat?

For OCI, you'll certainly use the new name. I am not 100% sure for surrender.

Call BLS and ask them. They will be able to clear that for you.

Please let me know how you proceeded with the surrender certificate? Did you fill in the form for surrender certificate using the new name? And did you provide letter of explanation of name change along with the name change certificate?
