Thanks prof. I appreciate your advise. does it mean getting a PR means you will pay home fees as a student even when you are not yet a citizen? like you rightly said i dont want to halt the flow of my life becuase am waiting for canadian PR what if one is rejected even though we dont pray for it, its not totally impossible.

It has its advantage though particularly the intership opportunity but i guess i will have to weigh all my options hence am seeking for advise so i can take an objective and informed decision.

As for my details am 35, married and with kids. not too fascinated about the PR prospect though but husband seriosly desires it and he says its for the kids sake so as obedient wife i have to buy the idea.

thanks one again and would definately speak with you again

Hi Oceana,
ACCA has waived other intermidiary stages for ICAN. Just 5 papers 3 essentials and 2 electives at least that is what they asked me to write. .As per combining with MBA, i intend to write just 3 papers so i can have time for my MBA program. In answer to your qustion i dont plan to live in canada beyond five years except if circumstaces changes in the future but for now the plan is not for 10, 15 years at all.

Thanks for your response i really appreciate.

Its been a while, just thought I should drop these few lines for whatever its worth.

The landing was long done, this is the return! We are back fully, rented a house and furnished it (haven't been a tenant in several years), kids started school and we have purchased a vehicle for the navigation. The process of integration is ongoing, the Canadians are nice and always wanting to help. Life is expectedly better here just cost a bit more (current exchange rate in naija is just crazy and Canadian dollar is still strong).
Am not looking for work yet, there are issues with the Canadian experience; it wont come easy except you are super good or could be the next best thing after Bill Gates. But things will fall into place at some point, we are naijas and we run things!
It has cost so much to settle down up to this point, basically because of the desire to provide a reasonable comfort level to make the relocation less stressful - the move was made because of the kids (we the adults are already "crayfished"). It is advisable for those waiting for the PR to start planning for the move, the best time to start preparing is now! It helped us because we landed in 2007 and returned to naija almost immediately, we planned and gathered money for over a year before this return. We have been paying cash for almost everything since we came with no credit history that could be accepted here but we brought so many items from naija to avoid unnecessary purchase here.
Its been fun for everybody so far except that I am always missing naija. Not sure of how that country will be rebuilt but we need to do it fast, it will always be my home.

Will be back to update as necessary.
Pls Tito, I am sorry to take you back to the very beginning. Its just because levels have changed and speculative questions are over.
1. Pls let me take you back to 2007 when you landed initially, how did you show them the proof of fund? Right now the bulk of my funds are in GT bank (dorm acct), is bank statement from the bank acceptable? or master card balance?
2. Only COPR forms are are included with our pali, how about other forms that one will fill as per goods to follow or declaration form? Is it ok to download those from their website? If yes, what and what forms are needed.
3. the flight question you have answered.
Hope to read from you.
Cheers

Sir K,

How did the request for your PPR arrive from CHC Accra, is it via email or postal mail?

Did your ecas show medicals received at the time your PPR was called for?

Cheers

Your husband's reason is very valid. Infact, if you are in your late 30s, I usually advice that you should stick to your "Nigerian program" unless you are entirely convinced that immigration to Canada is ideal for you and your family. The life changes, sometimes can cause more harm than good. At that age, you are better off securing a future for your children. Nigeria will get better one day but we all donot know when....!

With regards your program, my apologies...I gave an advice thinking you were a single male, my apologies again. As a married lady with kids, I'm more inclined to go with the Canadian option. Going to the UK would mean you have to leave your family for a year or more, etc etc. If you are thinking of immigrating, now is the time to start planning. Maybe you should consider immigrating and doing the MBA afterwards...if you get a job after immigrating, which I think you will, you can go for a part time MBA program. If you do not have a job, you do it full time....either way, it's a win-win for you. The cost is significantly less as a PR will pay "domestic fees"

@ Tinu: Really? ICAN pulled that off big time. Its good to know sha. Taking 3papers is do-able, but you might just get stretched a lil bit, having to juggle work, motherly duties, ACCA and MBA. Kaplan have this distance learning package(EN-gage Online) and they've added Virtual classes on to it too.

Prof has said it all.

The Lord will help you, and May His light shine upon your path to guide you. Thanks a lot. We are all on here to avoid pitfalls and collaborate to make the Canada journey a smooth sailing experience.

@ Prof456: Your perspectives on issues are very welcome and useful. Nice to have someone like you on 9ja threads.

Just chipping in: A PPR request that arrived two weeks ago was via e-mail from Accra. Postal mail hasn't turned up, and i'm not sure whether it ever will. PPR email says email printout should be sent along with passports, updated IMM 8, and 2 X passport photos within 60days. Ecas was still "in process" and clicking on it just reveals

"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. "

Nothing to do with medicals thus far. Hope it helps.

Oceana thanks for the quick response. Just trying to tune myself to the likely medium. Also I have been checking my ecas to see if it has changed to medicals received. Your new info is a welcome relief for me.

He received the PPR email a day after the 60day deadline for meds. It appears that CiC reviewed the file upon expiration of the deadline, and issued PPR pronto. Mind you, this one has been in process long enough to have all his Bgrnd/security checks done. The meds were done piecemeal across continents, main applicant, spouse + kids had IME at different times with interval of 3weeks, so its hard to say when the meds results were sent as there'd be two different dates with a long interval in between.

Its safe to expect a response say within a week of Meds deadline, if the fellow's timelines can be relied upon.

Congrats in advance! Let me be the first person to extend my congratulobia. Just checked your timelines, and can see you're there already. Can sniff it already. You should have it by fri unless your Bcgrd + Security haven't been completed cos you've been in the loop only a shortwhile.

All the best.

DEAR BARSINDO,
GUESS YOUR QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED, BUT SINCE IT WAS DIRECTED AT ME I WILL TELL YOU THAT IT CAME TROUGH E-MAIL. I WAS TOLD TO PRINT IT OUT AND IT CAME WITH MEDICAL REQUEST.
