Hi, I am a temporary worker in Canada (IT professional on Work Permit with Case Type 20).
Can I apply for an "Open Work Permit" for my spouse (who is in India) from Canada?
How much will be the processing time for Alberta province?
Also will my spouse be able to perform any kind of job in Canada or is it restricted? He too is an IT professional in India.

Please reply. Thanks in advance.

Don't know what case type 20 is, but being an IT Professional means NOC category B which qualifies as a skilled worker so yes you do qualify an open work permit for spouse.

But you can't apply from Canada. In fact it is your spouse who applies and is the primary applicant though his case is supported by your profile. Since he is in India, his application will primarily be catered there even if he applies online.

Province does not matter in this regard. It is the current processing times at the embassy in India which matters.

Lastly, like i said it would be an open work permit, so your spouse can do any job except those restricted by govt of canada for some specific requirements such as in health etc. where they need additional scrutiny.

Thanks friend for your reply.

I was not sure about the NOC category for IT professionals so I wrote case type 20 which I found written on my Work Permit.

Case type 20 shows it is a work permit, 10 shows visitor record, 30 shows student.
