My wife lost her CSQ

Hey,

My wife and I are preparing for her move in Canada. When I asked her to confirm that she had all the necessary paper gathered together, she couldn't find her CSQ.

We are running low on money so we are a bit short on time. My wife only has a color photocopy of the CSQ (she can't find the original)... is that enough for her to land in Canada without a problem?

Very soon.
The border agents may or may not accept a copy of her CSQ. You really need to contact MICC as soon as possible and explain the situation. They should send you a certificate that acts as a replacement. The original, or the certificate that MICC will send, is needed for your wife to register for health and other services in Quebec - they won't accept a copy.

As you suggested, I did a call to MICC. They told me that the border usually don't require to see the CSQ.

They told me that they don't accept photocopies to receive services in Québec. It is NOT possible to get another original CSQ. My wife will have to write them a letter when she arrives explaining the situation and they will give us an attestation of CSQ that has the same value as the CSQ.

So this is a good news for us... and since I did a color photocopy of the CSQ (that is identical to the original... except if they used a special paper that has security features) before sending it to my wife in case they lost it in the mail.... I might see what I can do with it instead.

Hi Intlove,

I was searching through the internet about this topic and ended up reading your post. The same happened to me. I'll land in Montreal in exactly 18 days (october 30th 2015) and was searching/sorting out all my documents and realized that I lost my original CSQ (I have a copy though).

I'd like to know how everything went out when you and your wife landed in Quebec. I'm very worried and would thank you any suggestions on what to do.

Thank you in advance.

The officer may of may not require to see your csq.
In my case the officer did not asked for this.
