Me and my family got visit visa in 2022, we went to canada in 2023, My wife and kids applied for Refugee and i went back after 1 month. Now my family claim got approved and they are now on Protected person status. Now I am planning to join and stay with my family in canada.
My questions are:
1. Can i travel to canada as i still a valid tourist visa?
2. Can i apply for a work permit after reaching there?
3. After applying for work permit, can i go back until my work permit gets approved (it takes 6 to 7 months) as i am working here and it is difficult to support my family if i cannot work.

Were you listed as a dependent in her application? If you want the work permit, I believe you would need to remain in Canada.

Note there is a chance your TRV may have been canceled. We have seen that in some cases here.

You can send an email to consulate that you got visa from. I would just directly take a flight and go instead of asking.
If you apply for pr together you can also get open wp as a spouse of refugee. Inland pr application/spouse of refugee.

Definitely an option because you also risk flagging your case if the TRV hasn’t been denied already but you risk losing the cost of the flight if denied boarding which may be a big financial loss for families.l

Agree. But for me instead of digging it just try to take flight and see. In my opinion its fine but of course we can’t know. I prefer to loose the money.

You can call IRCC and they can verify the status of your TRV. If all of your family and you applied together, your TRV is very likely canceled. Should've applied together for asylum because if your TRV indeed is canceled, you'll have a hard time getting a new one. All the best.

Could have been cancelled even if listed as a dependent which is required because it doesn’t appear that OP claimed asylum. Any asylum claim of a family member could result in TRV cancellation. At the end it’s about OP’s tolerance for risk and finances. Having a spouse return to their home country after being in Canada puts asylum claims at risk in general so lucky that the spouse did get protected person status.

if you have GCkey account and you linked your application there so the status will be there if it is valid or cancelled already but 90% chances are it is cancelled for sure
