My wife lives in Calgary, she works for a big oil company and has a work permit, she is going to renew her work permit next year and also is going to apply for PR. We are both from Nicaragua, but she is in Calgary and I'm still in Nicaragua.
I'v been reading and the eligibility wizard of cic.gc.ca says that I can apply for an open work permit.
According to your experience and knowledge, is this correct?
Thanks for the advice!
JL

You haven't said what her job is - in other words, what she does for her company.

If her job in Canada is skill level 0, A or B - then you qualify to apply for an open work permit.

She works as senior financial controller and she is skill level A, I have continued reading and I think I can apply to a open work permit, please help me to confirm this.
Thank you!

As the spouse of a skilled worker, you can apply for an open work permit as long as your wife has at least 6 months left on her permit. You will however have to show ties to home country etc. You can still be refused if immigration thinks you are likely to overstay.

Thank you very much for your responses, I also have another question, I´ve continued reading and finding out about the application for the open work permit and seems to be pretty simple, since we are from Nicaragua I don't need to present biometrics and medical examination only if requested, besides that only filling forms, looks pretty simple but do you know if I will be required to present some other papers later?
Thanks!

The forms are simple and if you provide everything they ask for, they shouldn't ask for anything else later.
