Hi;

I am a Canadian Citizen and my wife is Swedish Citizen, we got married this summer in Ontario, She is currently working in Sweden , I am planning to do inland sponsorship, I was wondering if she able to obtain a work permit while she is here and process of sponsorship ,she is well educated and working in well known company in Sweden,

My Question is
If she is able obtain open work permit:

, and how long does it take to obtain the work permit, what is the process?

Please advice . Thank you all you help in advance.

If she applies INLAND (so she is in Canada when you submit the application) then you simply include the OWP app with the PR app, and it should be processed within around 4 months. Her work history or education is irrelevant in terms of getting OWP.

Of course if she applies INLAND, then she should be prepared to stay living with your in Canada for entire duration of PR processing (2+ years).

Sweden citizens may find it's better to apply OUTLAND. They can continue to stay in Canada as a visitor (so no OWP), but overall the time to get PR will be much quicker (less than 1 year).

Thank you for feedback . I just have one more question. Will she able to get health coverage with the open work permit while the sponsor application in process?

If she apply the sponsor ship in London.. Can she still came and stay at canada if she apply for outland in London . Please advise. Thank you

Ontario does not accept OWP case 27 for health coverage. Only accept regular OWP that are issued after AIP is reached.

Yes, she can stay with you in Canada while Outland application is in process. You can even use your Canadian address. They will send her the COPR by mail to your Canadian address. Once she has COPR, she can flagpole around US border and land as PR.

Thank you for all you Advice.

Please advice; She is Swedish citizen so Can she just come and do the inland sponsorship application here and for the open visa application and can she go back to Sweden and came back once she get the visa.

Would that create any problem on sponsorship application, as other website state that she can not enter into Canada since application is going on, or sponsorship application will be deleted.

Please advice.

Thank you.

Once she submitted an inland application, she must remain in Canada until she lands as PR. She cannot go back to Sweden waiting for OWP to come through. She can leave Canada for "short visit" a couple of weeks, but not to remain outside of Canada awaiting OWP.

Thank you for the Quick replay.

Please advice if we do the outland sponsorship , Can my wife visit me while the process going on.

Thank you.

OF course she can visit you, she's from Sweden so she's visa exempt. She shouldn't overstay though and always have a return ticket - so she doesn't have issues with CBSA. Check the processing time for Sweden, I do believe it will be way quicker if you apply outland.
Take a look at eTa as well - she'll need it when traveling after March 15, 2016. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta.asp
