My Canada visa and WP is expiring on Feb 1st, 2017. Can i re-enter Canada on 2nd Jan 2017 as I am going to Us for few days to meet friends.

My WP extension will be applied in few days by my employer but I fear that it would reach me by that time.

Please suggest.

dont worry they will let you in , two of my friends crossed the broder in less then a month time and had no issues coming back

There have been instances of CBSA at POE sending folks back because WP was expiring within a month or two. This is the reason many companies advise employees not to travel if the WP is expiring and to wait till its renewed.

I reckon travelling to US via road might not be a problem.

Wont be a problem. If TRV and work permit is valid, they wont stop you. They may ask you about your returning back plan if you haven't applied for extension or something like that, but they wont stop you. Coz you would still be holding a valid entry document issued by Canadian government. So dont worry.

Once I came back two weeks before the expiry date, I already applied for the new one though. Print and keep your CIC email with you.

I didn't have any problem at the Canadian border, however, by boarding the plane in Europe I had some questions. The airport officer was pretty picky and strict. So, be prepared, have your email and be ready for some questions.

Thanks Neorol. I got my WP extn and spouse's VR extension approved so hopefully we will go and come from US smoothly.
