Hello guys:
I landed today & just thought I would share my time line with you. I applied as an Administrative Assistant. My status is common law.
Application Received: December 31, 2012
AOR Received: February 14, 2013
Medical Request: October 16, 2013 & I did my medical on the 18th October. Also received RPRF request
Documents Request: October 24, 2013 -->Cic called me and asked me to submit documents to support my relationship
status. I submitted lease agreements, joint bank account and bills in both our names
Passport Request: December 17, 2013. Took passport pics for myself & boyfriend and sent the same evening
Passport Rec @ cic: December 19, 2013
Got back Passport: December 31, 2013 (exactly 1yr)
Landed: January 1, 2014 (Fort Erie)
The landing process was fairly easy and short. We were planning to drive across to Buffalo if needs be but instead just made the turn back to Canada. drove to the officer in the booth and he directed us to park and go inside. He was fairly nice. There was no one inside except my boyfirend & i and another guy landing. We went to the officer he took our documents and told us to write our address on the note pad he gave us & have a seat. We did so and then he called us back shortly and made us initial and sign the confirmation of Residence letter. After we did so he gave us a "Welcome to Canada" booklet and wished us all the best. All the very best to you all!
He also informed us that our PR Cards will be arriving in the mail in the next 4-6 weeks. He told us that we can travel without the card international and re-enter Canada. I thought we had to wait on the Card but he assured us that we could. Does anyone have any experience doing so because I have to travel internationally in April 2014. Hopefully I will get it before that.
