My Study Permit application got refused just two days after Applying, what to do?

Can I reapply with just a letter of explanation? Because I don't think I have any more documents to provide. About employment prospects, I was thinking of getting my mum who is a nurse in a prestigious organization to get me letter of intention to employ from there but I think this might seems suspicious to the officer.

Don't reapply immediately without seeing your GCMS notes first. They will be a little more detailed. Quickly sending in a new application with minimal changes will only lead to another refusal on your record and make you look desperate. I suggest you wait until you can return to Nigeria to apply again.

As others have said it doesn't really matter that you're "stuck" in Russia; filing any application from outside your home country can count against you as it reduces your ties there. A promise of post-graduation employment will also not be very believable. What level of education did you apply for in Canada? A master's degree would be ideal.

In that case, what degree did you complete in Russia? They want to see progression so if you were going for a second bachelor's that would not make sense.

I believe it makes sense and I have explained. I finished biotechnology and want to pursue computer science. These courses are actually a great match since I am planing on becoming a computational biologist. I'm also not satisfied with my biotechnology alone and its limitations hence why adding a second degree will not only make me acquire my desired career but alsoincrease my chances at employments and opportunities

Did you explain that in your application? What are the career prospects in Nigeria for computational biologists and why can't you study there? Ultimately, they prefer applicants who show clear progression in their field. Doing a second bachelor's in a different field raises questions.

I explained that I want to work in a large R&D department or IT as a computational biologist cos clearly developing nations like Nigeria lack this expertise and it is a very growing sector in Africa and Nigeria, also mentioned that after obtaining a Russian language degree ,I have made up my mind to obtain a English one since it's been spoken in my country and that I think it's best I get a quality and even better degree than previous and this is impossible in Nigerian universities

Would advise you apply for a Master's in CS or CS related field. Although, your explanation makes sense, in the eyes of the VO a second bachelor's is not a progression and can be interpreted as a means to immigrate.

Thanks a lot for your advice but I don’t think I’ll do that, I believe it will contradict my initial SOP and I don’t want that. I literally got a professor to produce a rector stamped letter which advice me to purse a CS degree cos of some reasons I already mentioned there. And applying for masters and reapply again might just makes me seem desperate, I plan to obtain gcms notes and give a much stronger detailed explanation. I read a post someone gave 15 pages letter of explanation after refusal and got it. Might work for me too hopefully if I address the gcms rightly. With the help of God and selfless guys and gals on this forum I believe I’m gonna get it and be successful. I’m gonna post the new SOP here when I’m done. Perhaps you all can twitch it for me

I hate to be the bearer of bad news here but they don't devote that much attention to your SOP. They will spend a few seconds skimming it at best and certainly won't read a 15 page essay. Applying again for the same program is what conveys desperation.

But I haven’t even gotten the gcms yet. Might be that I’m refused for different reasons. I’m gonna get the gcms and share it with you guys. Then we’ll know what to do
