I thought I would share my soft landing experience in September
Flight landed on time in Vancouver from Hong Kong, I'd been there before so the airport wasn't new to me but it had been 5 years and honestly it hadn't really changed much.
My wife and kids are Canadian so it was just me landing. I asked if we could go through the Canadian queue but as told we need to go to the visitor queue.
I presented my passport and COPR to the first CBSA guy, he was pretty friendly and stamped my passport and then told me where to head to complete the process.
There was no on else ahead of me so I was able to walk straight up to the counter, the officer asked me for my passport and COPR, asked me the usual questions (have I been deported, am I married, how many children I have etc), told me to sit back down and then did some stuff with the computer. He called me back up and asked me to sign the COPR, stamped it, said welcome to Canada and then that was it.
I wanted to ask some more questions but at that point 4 Mandarin speakers appeared, walked in the wrong way, started speaking Mandarin to the officer or didn't seem to have a clue what they were on about and waving the papers in his face. He was so busy telling them off I was pretty much ignored.
No one asked me about any goods I have or goods to follow, I'll do that when I move early next year.
We then picked up our bags, walked through customs and out into arrivals.
The whole process was quite uneventful and smooth, however, I was surprised that I did have to speak about my goods, maybe I mentioned I was entering as a visitor this time.
I'll post again when I land next year with 'officially'
