I am an Canadian PR. I was given PR on July 25 2021. I have the expiry on July 2026. I have stayed for only 6 months till now. I am planning to go back to Canada in July 2025.

1. Would I be questioned upon arrival?
2. When I go in July 2025, if at all i stay there for 1.5 years without going out of the country, would I be able to extend my PR for more 5 years?
3. Are there any complications that I might need to know beforehand?

1) Every time someone arrives at the border, will be questioned by the border officer
2) You will have to meet your residency obligations of 730 days, before you can renew your PR card (5 years or less)

You should be attempting to return earlier to ensure there are no issues. Although people may plan on remaining in Canada for 1.5 yrs we see many people run into issues that require them to travel all the time. You also will need to remain in Canada for 2 years if your 6 month stay was right after landing since the 6 months period will expire. You don’t extend your PR just the PR card. After the first 5 years your residency obligation becomes a rolling total so on any day you will have to have met the 730 days out of the past 5 years.

You are not in same situation. You said you cannot meet your residency obligations, while OP can still meet if they return to Canada before the expiry date of the PR card and live there for at least 2 years without leaving or renewing a new PR card.

If I were you, I tried to enter to Canada ASAP. I have not did it like that, now I am in big trouble. I have strong reasons, why I left Canada, but there very little chances to win appeal if CBSA will report me. If you will enter Canada July 2025, you will meet 1,5 year of obligation. May be CBSA wil report you to IRCC. On that case you will be face with big problem.
