my POE Landing Experience with my Family

Finally arrived in Canada after deferment of Admission dates from Winter 2013 to Fall 2013 and below was my experience at the POE

1. a small queue at the Toronto POE so we had to wait
2. finally got to our turn, the Officer seemed relaxed and simply asked what my purpose of entry was? which i replied as study.
3. asked to see the admission letter from the university and passports ( note: my deferment did not arouse any interest from the officer)
4. my study permit was attached to my passport and open work permit attached also for my spouse.
5. all done... estimated time is about 15-20mins

Thanks alot. It really helped me. I am currently waiting for my visa, hopefully it is not delayed too long due to the strike.
I was worried that they will ask you to show them all the money you wrote on the application.
How did you carry or transferred your money to Canada?

I think you mean you had Winter 2012 admission and you deferred to Fall 2013. Well congratz. And thanks for your feedback

The very next day I went to the university early in the morning and visited international students office. there all my documents like study permit passport CAQ were scanned. They also gave me my insurance card. they also suggested me some rental help group that could help me find rental apartments. the group was not much help only thing they did was give me an idea of which areas were good and convenient.
then from there went to my department where i asked them to register me for courses . from there I went to see where i could get university ID . by this time it was lunch time so i had to go find food .....best i found was cheese pizza as i didnt know what other meats were in other pizzas. then after that roamed around to find rental apartments in near by area. After that i was pretty much exhausted and since it was winter time also cold so went back to hotel. After some rest asked the hotel front desk for near by restaurants . I went to the one that they suggested . Thats how my first went.

As per my plan I thought of goin to Scotiabank.
Since I hav to travel frm calgart to edmonton, I thought of going to college the second day.
Is there anythng else that should b done on priority? ?

i needed 2 photo id's to open bank account so i went to university first to get my university id.I dont know about scotia bank and GIC so u may just need one .

lol they dont ask those type of questions......they dont care who picks u up....all they care about is ur documents and why ur in canada which is study.
