Here is how it all happened for me and hopefully this will give you an idea (the order might not be the same for everyone)
If its an AOR1 that you received then next step I got Decision Made which means I am approved as a Sponsor. They then sent the biometrics and medical request for my wife which she got them done with in 4 days. CPC SYDNEY sent confirmation of "medical received" in ECAS a few days later.
NOTE: you will not see your biometric results in ECAS...ONLY IN GCKEY IF YOU HAVE LINKED YOUR PAPER APPLICATION.
Following day my representative received an email confirming that our file has been transferred to CPC MISSISSAUGA. From there they will now verify all supporting documents and undergo a background check for my wife. In doing so if the officer feels the need for additional documents they will request.

It was the same day that I received my AOR1. I didnt receive any separate email confirming of my approval. I simply logged into ECAS...on the SPONSOR SIDE it showed "DECISIONBMADE" which 75% of the time means approved. And the other way to be 100% sure is when my wife was sent for medical and bio.
