I guess there is an election coming! I've had municipal candidates and once I had an MLA come to my door, but never the acting Member of Parliament. I invited him in and we talked about immigration for about 10 minutes. He was really happy to hear that our immigration experience was so good, but I did tell him about all of the stories I know from this site. We talked about having a temporary resident permit for spousal applicants, to hopefully cut down on the amount of fraudulent marriages, which would then free up resourses for genuine couples. I told him to tell Jason Kenney that the genuine couples are in support of this measure!

He also told me that in his office, 65% of the inquiries from constituents are immigration related. He has one person in his office employed full-time to deal with immigration issues. He has asked me to contact his office after the election (if he is elected, which is pretty much a given in my riding to elect the conservative), as he said I seemed very knowledgeable and he would like to hear more about the spousal sponsorship route from someone who has been through it.

That is hilarious.

bob, what city do you live in?

MPP called our house too last night , by phone though ..just missed the call ! She left a nice msg on answer machine to call her back , which I will . Conservative MPP would get my vote for sure.

I was making my usual Tim Hortons run this morning and the local MP was in there with a camera crew.

Really? That's where we live!! He hasn't come to our doorstep yet loll, although we're hardly ever at home!

I'd be thrilled if my MP actually came by. Thanks for being a voice for our immigration community!

Why do I feel like you are being sarcastic? Any knowledge I have about this process has come from this forum, I take no credit for it.

Yes - I live in the M's. Moved here from Calgary 6 years ago and absolutely love it here!

We're in the O's - been in St. Albert for 22 years, great place!! ;D

Heavens, no! I'm so sorry if it sounded that way, that really wasn't my intention. I can only hope authorities really start working more closely with such a knowledgeable (regardless of where that knowledge comes from) and dedicated "immigration insider" as yourself, for everyone's benefit :)
My comment was simply a well-meant giggle, because I first said someone should make you President of the World in that other topic, and now powers that be are coming to you for advice, a-ha! Humour attempt fail?

Once again, I'm very very sorry if I offended you in any way.

Yeah Bob i think they have to makemore stickiness for fraud marriages but they have to make little softness for peoples true couples
