Hi,

As the title suggests, my mother was born in Quebec has a baptism certificate but not a birth certificate. She would like her Canadian citizenship back (she used to have it but didn't renew her passport) and my sister and I would both like Canadian citizenship as well.

We are still at the start of understanding the process, but it seems like the first step is to get a copy of her birth certificate. Do we do this through an application for a bith certificate at the Directeur de l'état civil? It says that they may not have complete information before 1994 - should we attach a copy of her baptismal certificate as well?

After that, do we need anything else to proceed with our applications for citizenship?

Yes, that's how you get it.

I don't know about including a copy of the baptismal certificate; it does not seem to be required, but if you're doing it by post, probably no harm in attaching a copy.
