Hi Everone,
We landed yesterday in Toronto and it was a very pleasant experience.
Our plane touched down at Toronto Pearson Airport at 2.05pm(local time) and was among the first set of people to come out of the plane bcos of our seat location at the Business class
Everything went so fast with the immigration officer who took our passport and landing papers for processing.
He asked for how much we have and how much we intend to bring or wired in after settling in Canada. He also asked about our profesion i.e what i do and what my wife does as well. Very polite and couteous young immigration officer.
For record purpose....he did not request to see the money nor proof of the fund.We signed the necessary papers and were out in exactly 13minutes..... At the end of the process, he shook our hands and said "Welcome to Canada -your new Home"
We moved to the customs to have our B4 Form logged and stamped i.e goods to follow form. Spent just 8minutes with the custom.
In all the whole experience lasted 21minutes. Very courteous and friendly people who made you feel at home right from the airport.
We were given a bag full of books and pamphlets to assist us in settling down in Canada.
My sister in law was outside to welcome us and she drove us to the bank straight from the airport to get our accounts opened which was done within 20minutes.
Our assignment today is to go for the SIN registration(and also to get Mobile phones) which is just about 10minutes drive to where we are staying in Brampton. While the job search will commence immediately this is sorted. I have four diffrent CVs/resume prepared for 4 diffrent management job positions with the able assistance of HR consultant who has worked in Canada for over 7years. Was able to build in some canadian experiences as well. Hopefullly...its all looking good. I am prety confident of landing a good job here within a few weeks by Gods Grace. Its all about BELIEF!
The Medical insurance will be done as soon as we get our first bank statement on the 31st Aug which we intend to use as a proof of address.
I am still contemplating exchanging my UK driving licence for the Canadian driving licence or just go for a fresh canadian licence. Not made up our mind yet on this.
Dear All, Canada is a beautiful country and a nice place to start a living. Reports shows that jobs are there for us for the taking depending on our personal self belief .We ve got to believe and be confident of ourselves. My sister in law and hussy migrated about 6years ago and right from day one never settled for 2nd best. With such belief and mentality they are right there among the best. So my bros and sisters..belief is the word and am sure we will all actualise our dreams in this great country.
Will keep the forum posted with development but for now am still savouring the achievement and my new home.
Wish you guys the very best.
