- LANDED..........
- 1/6/2016
So today I landed, I went to Rainbow Bridge, Niagara Falls.
I crossed the bridge and went to the American side, entered the door and said "HI, how r u?" To the officer, then he said "citizenship", I gave him my passport and told him "I came here to flagpole", he sorta scanned my passport and filled a piece of paper with my information. And told me to take it with the COPR and the passport to the Canadian side, he didn't touch my passport and I asked him if it means entry denial to the states, he said there is no denial because there was no attempt to enter the states and thus there is no denial and this won't affect any future entry to the states. Then I asked him "IT says CBP on ur body armor, it stands for Canadian Border Control right?" He gave me the same grumpy look he did at the beginning, I knew that wasn't right simply because I was talking to an American officer, then I said "I'm just trying to bug u before I leave", and be surprised! He went from being grumpy to making everybody in the area hear his laughter lol, then he smiled and told me good luck with ur new start.
Then I went to the Canadian side, the officer there asked me very basic question like what's my address and stuff like that, then he asked me why did I flagpole? Why did I come to this port of entry not another one given that all ports of entry r in equal distance to where I live with my wife, I thought he's trying to investigate me but I took his question as a friendly conversation and talked with him about life and facts about canada, he was very nice, this took 20 mins but 18 mins were the conversation we had and he did whatever he was supposed to do in the first 2 mins (I was the only one landing apparently).
Then he told me to go to the other building to finish the process, I went there gave them my passport, COPR, and the flagpole document, they told me to wait, I waited around 20 mins then they called my name, told me to fill and sign the COPR, then he said "that's it". And that was it.
NOTES:
- My wife couldn't accompany me so I went there alone.
- Make sure you have 5 or 10 bills if u don't have quarters. If you have only 20's u r pretty much stuck unless someone helps u out with 2 quarters or u take a long walk to the nearest store.
- The American officer was rude at the beginning, the Canadian one who signed my COPR was way more rude, at least I expected to hear "congratulations " or "Welcome to canada" but there was no such thing.
- The falls look AMAZING, i entered 6he bridge and saw them from there and started taking photos, then I walked towards the Canadian side by mistake, I completely forgot about the fact that I went there to land.
- I asked the officer about condition 51, here's the thing, in September I wanna go visit my family for a month, will that violate the condition? He said the following:
According to condition 51 you have to stay in a relationship for a period of 2 years during the next 5 years, if u leave Canada for few months, you'll have to make up for them when u come back."
"But the condition says u have to live together for CONTINUOUS period of 2 years since the day u became a PR"
"No u don't have to stay together like that the negates the act of freedom, if u break up though before completing these 2 years within the next 5 years I can affect ur status".
Do u guys think it's right what he said? I can really leave the country for a month without getting in trouble? The condition clearly says CONTINUOUS and doesn't say anything about 2 out of 5 years.
Thank u for reading.
