What happened? I had a similar scenario. I have a flight From Kiev to Toronto and Toronto to St. John's and I don't want to do the immigration process in Toronto. Did you do it in your final destination?

It's not your or anyone's choice where to do the landing formalities. When you first land in Canada you will have to do your pr landing at your Port of Entry just like when you visit any country you go through immigration and show your docs here you will be doing the same . BTW you should have kept more time gap between 2 flights as Landing formalities might take 1.5 to 2 hrs depending on the queue.
