Hi,

I am landing before my wife & kids. Will I be able to do any part of the documentation for them esp the SIN card and health card? Do I need to carry any of their documents?
Do not bring their documents. They will only get their stuff done when they are here in person. You can do yours with your docs.

Here the term "family" does not mean anything for doing such things. Each person on their own.....(unfortunately)

Hi
We are preparing for a short landing in May.
We will open an account with HSBC Canada from Dubai and transfer proof of funds to this account .But this account can be activated only after
we personally visit HSBC Canada branch and the account statement will not be available till this time.
Can we show the receipt of fund transfer to the immigration officer and will it be accepted as proof of funds ?
We will be carrying some cash for immediate use...Kindly advice

Yes you can only activate the account after you visit the branch in Canada.
You can use the fund transfer receipt or ask your HSBC personal banker to send an email confirming the transfer.
I used the email when I landed.

Hi Senior,

I am FSW 2014 applicant and already got PPR from VO. I would like to know the rule for those who landed Canada for a short visit to get PR card and go back to their country. I would like to know how long can we stay in other country after the first landing and got the PR card?

6 months? 1 year?

Please advise.

Hi guys, Need a clarification. I m travelling to Edmonton through Toronto on this month end. I have lay over time of one hour and twenty minutes in Toronto. Few say that i need to complete my landing formalities in Toronto as it will be first point of entry in Canada. Is that true?? Anyone recently travelled have experienced this kind of situation..

POE (Port of Entry) will be Toronto if you are coming to Toronto via International Flight and you will have all immigration formalities to be completed there itself. You will be going to ED via a domestic flight from there.

This is what i had to go thru when I went to Ottawa via Toronto long back on Work Permit.

Ofcourse you can. How does it matter once you are legally allowed inside Canada? Once you are inside Canada, you can stay anywhere you want.

I am not aware of the fund requirements of PNP. Please pay due diligence.

Re: MY LANDING EXPERIENCE AND OBSERVATIONS - Settlement Funds

HI Anyone who landed recently please help with info.

At Port of Entry do we need to show the sufficient settlement funds ? Somewhere i remember reading on cic website that we cannot carry more than 5000 CAD with us in cash - not sure need to check it again.

Otherwise, how can we show the settlement funds ? I reside in INDIA and if I show them the equivalent amount in Indian Rupees...will they accept ?

Or do I need to transfer all the money to Canada Bank account and show them that (I have BMO account in toronto which I opened while I was on work permit 2 years back)

Appreciate your response.

You can carry as much as cash you want. Just that you need to declare it if it is more than 10k CAD.
Yes you need to have sufficient funds. It is mandatory, not optional.
You cannot carry indian rupees. Either convert it into CAD or equivalent USD or transfer it to your account in Toronto or get a travellers cheque.

This money is for your own good during the first few months in Canada. Trust me, you would need it while you search for jobs. You need atleast 1000 - 1500$ per month to sustain (rent, groceries, transportation utilities)..
