Hey all i want inshalah start getting my masters once I land in Canada do I need to stamp my bachelors degree from the canidian embassy or just take the original one with me ? 2 I've so many luggage ,which airlines will give me the best solution ? N is there a wat I can ship them for less money

Hi Loleeta,

You don’t need to do any stamping from embassy.
The credential assessment can be done by the college / university or CICIC.
Check details on below links:

you need to check the with the university where you plan to study - i guess you already have a specific university in mind - check their requirements online.

i guess most of them would want original transcripts (in an envelope with the university seal) to be forwarded to them directly by mail from your home university (where you have done your bachelor degree) - that's ofcourse in addition to other requirements...(ielts, (GMAT - if you want to do MBA), application fee....etc)
thank you very much ,do u recommend start emailing the university from now we r planning to land inshalah July

Hi sm001,

1. If you are buying directly from the Airline's online system or from their website, I think it is OK.
2. If you are buying from third party, than you have to be very careful, there are many online scams now days.
3. You may call the airline office and check if they have given authorization to third party to sale their tickets online
Sometime third party website will take you directly to the Airline's booking server / website (in this case it is also OK)

These tips may be helps full for everyone:

Don't be grounded by flight booking scams

1. Travellers should check the authenticity of flight booking websites before making any reservations for domestic and international travel.
2. These fake traders claim to sell tickets on behalf of well-known airlines, when in fact the airlines have not authorised the sale.
3. After purchasing the fake tickets, victims are given a booking number but when they go to use this number they find that the booking doesn't actually exist with the airline they are supposed to be travelling on.
4. Consumers may be contacted directly by fraudulent traders, or may follow links via popular social networking sites.
5. Some victims have lost in excess of $1000 for fake international flight bookings, while others report instances of identity theft after interactions with the fake trader.

Warning signs:
1. The flight booking website is not well-known, or you have never heard of it before.
2. The website claims to offer flights at unusually cheap prices, some up to 50% off.
3. There is no proper local contact number or address for the trader, often because they are not located in your area.
4. The site does not have a valid membership number or registration.

Protect yourself:
1. Be cautious when considering whether to purchase really cheap airfares – if it looks too good to be true it probably is.
2. NEVER send money or give personal details to people you don't know and trust.
3. If you think you have provided your account details to a scammer, contact your bank or financial institution immediately.

Hope that helps,

hmisabpk
Very very informative bhai.

Have you heard of www.akbartravelsonline.com before or anybody booked online from their site? They offer good rates. They have their office too in the city, but they have EMI offers if we book online.

Jazak Allah

Akbar Travels is a reputed travel agent in India with operations spread over all the main cities for more than a decade. They can be trusted as I have not come across any bad remark about them.
Hi sm001,

I haven't heard about them.

ASK has given his valuable opinion about them, you may call their office and verify the information about their online sale.
It is true that some companies offer good rate and special discounts only at online purchase.

Thank you ASK !!

I have a question I want to ask. I dont have enough money to carry. I am suppose to carry 20,000 but I have 16,000 after I have paid for accomodation. I have paid for 2 month lodging bill for a furnished 2 bedroom apartment in toronto at the rate of 4300/month already. I want to ask if we are fine with what we have. Can we carry the money in cash. Can the money be in US dollar equivalent. Please advice. Can I tell them I have the whole 20,000 and give explanation if they want to check that I have paid for apartment out of it. Or else should I tell them I have 16,000 with me and give explanation that 2 month accomodation has been paid for already and show them the evidence of payment. What do you suggest I should tell them. Thanks.

Dear TJ2010,

The funds they ask you to bring when you come as a 'settler', is generally known as 'Settlement Funds'. In CIC website, it says:

"The Government of Canada does not provide financial support to new skilled worker immigrants. You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependents after you arrive in Canada. You must be able to use this money to support the costs of living for your family"

Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

When you relate these statements with your current fund status, you should be fine with the remaining $ 16,000. At the airport, the officers normally do not physically verify the money you declare and tend to believe in your honesty. Any amount above $ 10,000 should be declared.

Hope it helps.

Although what you mentioned is logical, in my opinion i think its a bit risky, and if i were you i wouldn't take that risk. Landing is a moment that you have probably been waiting for - a long time already ...try to make sure nothing goes wrong. I landed last month and was also not asked to physically show the money ...but who knows...

If i were you i would try to borrow the 4K from a good friend and return it back to him on the first day after you land, and save yourself the unnecessary explanations...by the way - if your family is 4 people you have to show $20,654 not $20000 ...

Hello Forum Members,
I'll be returning from Canada after a week from my landing. So while returning I'll have only the COPR Doc and the Indian Passport with me. Plz help me with the following doubts...

1) My Flight itinery is like this ... Onward journey : New Delhi --> London Heathrow --> Toronto
Return journey : Toronto --> London Heathrow --> New Delhi
Do I need a Transit Visa in London even though I won't be going out of the Airport? I am Indian. I checked their website for Transit Visa exempt Rules it says people from the listed countries need Transit Visa. India is in that list. Plz suggest whether at all Transit Visa is required in my case?

2) Should I apply for SIN after my landing or should I apply when I arrive Toronto to settle down later?
3) Should I apply for OHIP after my landing or should I apply when I arrive Toronto to settle down later?
Note- I have my old expired OHIP and SIN with me.
