Hello Guys,

Wonderful landing stories here.

I needed to know some facts.

Me and my wife are co applicants , after getting the passport stamped with VISA within how many months do we have to make a landing in Canada.

Also is it possible that even though we are co applicants can we land in Canada at later intervals?

Ideally I would like to move first to find a job and home and then call my wife after a few months for settlement.

Is this possible in the current rules ?

Thanks much.

@Dagdoba, the visa that would be stamped on your passports will have a validity (usually 1 year from your medical examination date). You must land in Canada before the expiration of your entry visa.

As regards your second question, the principal applicant must land first or together with the dependent.

Dear seniors,

I am planning to do a short landing for 2-3 months. So is there any harm in opening a bank account ? Because many ppl are saying that I should not open a bank account, if I am planning to do a short landing .. Why is it so ?

Why are they saying that, if I may ask?

This is what they have to say ...

" If you're doing a short landing (which you are), you may want to think twice about opening a bank account. Owning a bank account is considered a secondary tie for residence in Canada, and therefore, comes with the possibility of you being considered a resident for tax purposes. This means you have to file taxes in Canada even while your are not in the country - you have to report your income outside Canada. So before you do this, you may want to do more research and if possible even verify with CRA. Additionally, opening an account comes with requirements such as a Canadian address, a utility bill in your name etc. Will you be in position to fulfill these requirements? "

Well, I am not so sure about all the assumptions above. I did a short landing and I opened accounts. A Canadian address was required but not utility bill.

You may want to contact Revenue Canada for clarifications.

Hi ,

Thanks much for your answer and congrats on the PPR.

But I`m still not very clear on the validity date.
My medicals were done on 10th Nov 2015, and I have not received PPR request until now.

So when I get my visa, will it be valid until only 9th Nov 2016?, it will be too short for us.

Also me and my wife did our medicals together so will the entry date for her be the same?

Is there a possibility to extend this entry date and is it possible to entry CANADA just for a short while to claim PR and then return to native country?

Thanks mcuh

I came to know about notes yesterday hence I raised it immediately but I I think it takes around 1 month time to get it.Regarding CSE , not yet. But i`m not sure if they will respond since I have not yet completed 6 months

I don't think you really have any cause to panic. We had our medical examination in July 2015 and we didn't get any update from our visa office until Feb 2016 (after 7 months ) and our visas were issued with just 4 months validity since our medicals will be expiring in July 2016. Hence we had to do a short landing and returned back to our Country in May (answering your question of whether you can do a short landing and return).

You could order for GCMS notes to clear your apprehension about your application.

Yes your visas will have the same validity (ie) expiring on the same day.

yes you're right, notes take 1 month to receive; for CSE, there's no harm in trying.

Hi guys,

I landed on March 30 at Pearson Airport. I read numerous articles about landing experience and I was scared with the whole process and how things might turnout for me. To be honest, Canada is the best country in the world. My landing experience was superb. First of all people are very friendly. They will facilitate you to the max.

We had to fill the landing card in the flight. One should carefully declare everything as per the requirements of the law. Upon landing, we went to the PR counter. People were extremely polite and kept saying 'Welcome to Canada". It took 10 mins for the PR formality. Than we were sent for SIN. This was a quick process too.

Than we collected our luggage and went through the customs. It was a long queue and took an hour.

The whole process was very smooth and took approximately 1.5 hours.

I would suggest to ease off and relax. Canada is a wonderful place and you will have a good landing experience.
