Hello!
Can anyone with a valid Canadian PR card stay, live, have provincial health insurance, and poetentially work in Quebec, or would they have to look forward to submitting yet another application?
My Husband obtained PR in late March this year (in-land, spousal). He has his PR card physically with him as well! In our application, we indicated that we would be living in Quebec until May or June, and then move back to Alberta. However, I just recieved a job opportunity in Ottawa so we're exploring our options to move to either Gatineau (QC) or Ottawa (ON).
I remember hearing that newcomers who wish remain and settle in Quebec would also need to submit a PR application to the Government of Quebec after they recieve a result from the Givernment of Canada. Would anyone know if this is true? Does my husband have a certain amount of time in Quebec before he is legally obligated to submit a PR application to QC? Trying to understand if it would complicate things less if we lived in Ottawa rather than Gatineau or if that wouldn't be any worries anyway since Ottawa and Gatineau seem to have certain interprovincial aggrements due to their proximity. It's most likely that my Husband would find work in Ottawa also.
I've tried doing research on my end about this and I can't seem to find a clear answer. Goverment of Canada websites say that anyone with PR has the right to live and work anywhere in Canada, however Goverment of Quebec websites have information about applying for PR to Quebec specifically. It's rather confusing.
