Hello Canada Visa,

I am really hoping someone here can help me with figuring out how to expedite my father’s Super Visa application.

I applied for my father’s Super Visa in November 2016 and the application has been pending since. Every year for the past 3 years we get an email saying “There have been no updates to your application.” We are just concerned and it’s hard for me to travel to back and forth to Bangladesh so my father wants to come and visit me. I am not sure why there is a hold up in the application but I am planning to get married next year and I really need his application to be finalized soon as I would love to have my family there.

A little background story – My father had a multiple entry visitor’s visa to Canada until around 2014 and he is very well travelled. After his visitor’s expired, we applied for a renewal - that application stayed pending for about a year when a lawyer advised us to cancel that application and apply for a Super Visa. Around the same time my younger sister’s visitor’s visa also expired and we applied for her visitor’s visa in the same application as my father’s Super Visa. My sister is in her early 20s and she is a student. She has no intention to move here. And my dad is a retired Army officer (retired almost 20 years ago and he has visited Canada multiple times after that with a visitor’s visa). During this time, both my dad and sister were unable to make it to my university graduation.

We have followed up with IRCC in Singapore via email and in response they emailed in December 2018, “Your application is still being reviewed for secondary clearances. When secondary clearances are required on an application this often leads to delays that go beyond the usual processing times for that type of application. Rest assured that your application will be finalized as soon as the secondary clearances are completed.”

A couple of weeks ago we received another email saying, “There have been no updates to your application.”

If anyone has been through a similar situation and something has worked for them, I will appreciate any help on this. If anyone knows a lawyer who has dealt with a case like this, I will appreciate it if you can give me their contact.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from someone soon.
