Dear Friends,

I tried my landing, but unsuccessful, at Pearson airport. My immigrant visa and CoPR were expiring soon. The immigration officer was unable to conduct my landing because I had a special case. I got married after obtaining my CoPR. Hence I was told to go back to the country of residence, and add my spouse on the application. I was also told to have medicals done for myself.

Since the closure of Buffalo, I have e-mailed CPP-Ottawa numerous times regarding the change in marital status. There was no reply from CPP-Ottawa on a way forward; hence I took the risk of landing before my visa expiry. I kept on waiting till the last minute. All this time I knew that I had to return my CoPR document, but not exactly sure where to return. At the airport the immigration officer kept the CoPR letter, took photocopies of my spouse’s passport, marriage certificate, and assured me to get back to me by e-mail after tracking whereabouts of my file. I got a stamp of CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE on my visa. Although, the officer was generous enough to allow me to stay in Canada after seeing my return ticket. I got a travel permit for 5 days for a sum of $200.

Now I am back in India, and still haven’t received an email from any CIC offices. I really don’t know what to do next, and where to send necessary documents on behalf of my spouse. My visa office was Buffalo, USA, now I work and live in India.

Any help/suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Anyone.. please help.. I haven't heard anything back from CIC :(

It's very sad to hear that, I believe the only option is to update CIC on your status change and include your spouse in the application, then CIC will request for Medical for you and your spouse.

Have you submitted all of the required paperwork to add your spouse to your application? If not, you should do this as soon as possible. Even if your spouse is not accompanying you to Canada, you must still add your spouse to your application and they must pass the medical and security / background checks. Once all of the paperwork is submitted, expect it to take another few months for CIC to process this new information and re-issue your COPR.

I have not submitted the new application with my spouse's details yet. I do not know where to send my application. My visa office used to be Buffalo. Now I live in India. Where should I send my application?
