Our app was sent to Mississauga by Canada Post, delivered on March 7th, no response until now. Cases sent two weeks after us have been processed already. We phoned the Call Centre, was told that they are unable to find my case in their system, it may be lost. So they sent an inquiry to Mississauga on March 10, and asked them to locate my documents. Followed up 3 times now, no update, and they ask me to wait one month to call them again........

I am so nervous right now!!!! just cannot imagine how can we put all the documents together again, not even have to mention all the private information can be anywhere!

Anybody have similar experience can share with me what I can do right now???

Did you apply inland or Outland?

If inland, I am not surprised if you don't hear from them at all as they've been very lax. I sent my application last February 2014 and I haven't hear from CPC -M. All of the applicants who submitted their application from Jan 2014 till April haven't heard from them. It will be likely sitting in the corner and haven't put in the system as of this date.

If you applied inland, then no worries...(see what Carlaganda23 wrote above).

If you applied outland, then indeed you should take a drastic move, because I experienced the same thing. Basically our application was sent on 22 January 2013 and arrived at CPC-M on 30 January 2013. I expected to get an AOR within 2 to 4 weeks, but I got nothing even after 1 month had passed since our application arrived. And people who sent their application after we, already got an AOR via email. Then I started emailing CPC-M to inquire about what happened, and I got no response. Finally I decided to contact my MP, and it wasn't until 20 March 2013 (49 days after our application arrived at CPC-M) that an officer from CPC-M called me to inform that she could only find the relationship proofs, but not our application forms, hence the no AOR.

More detailed story here:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/february-2013-outland-only-applications-here-is-your-thread-t133667.0.html;msg2155483#msg2155483

Anyway if you applied outland, you should contact your MP ASAP and request for help. Go here:

http://www.parl.gc.ca/Parlinfo/Compilations/HouseofCommons/MemberByPostalCode.aspx?Menu=HOC

and plug in your postal code, and contact his/her office (most likely a constituency worker, instead of the MP him/herself, will respond).

Oh and make sure to provide your MP with your package tracking number, your name, date of birth, your spouse's name and his/her date of birth.

Good luck!!

Many thanks to you guys! My spouse is currently in Canada on student permit, but we chose to have our case processed in my spouse's home country (visa office outside Canada). So I suppose this should be considered an OUTLAND case.

I guess I really should try to contact my MP then. The call centre is not helping at all.

That's scary so many documents of late are getting lost, bunch of idiots at CIC. I'm scared what if they lost for example, my photos, but everything else was still there. They'd probably call me on for interview because there's insufficient proof of relatoinship, but I wouldn't know it until I get the interview and read the GCMS notes.

fandv:

This Friday will be the 29th day since CIC Mississauga received my package. CIC website says assessment of sponsor takes 29 calendar days. If I don't get AOR next Monday, do you think I should start contacting CIC, and if I don't get a response in a few days, should I then call the MP?

Yes I was really worried about losing the relationship proofs too. And the officer who called me, told me that she kept the relationship proofs in her office. And then once I sent her the redone forms, I also worried whether or not she properly joined everything. The good thing, though, is because of the incident, she somehow sped up the process, and 5 days after the redone forms arrived at CPC-M, I didn't get an AOR but instead got my sponsorship approval right away, and 8 days after the sponsorship approval, Singapore sent my wife an email, confirming that they had received the package from CPC-M. By the way, the CPC-M officer who called me also ensured that I wouldn't lose my queue, and that the application would be treated as if no papers were lost.

About your application, here's what you should do from now on: go to this page:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

See where it says "29 days, Working on applications received on March 18, 2014"? That means that in the eyes of the CIC, they haven't "officially" begun working on your application. I said "officially" because I KNOW with absolute certainty that "unofficially" there ARE applications that arrived AFTER March 18, that they're already working on. I know this because when I was facing my ordeal, people were getting AORs, even though the above URL indicated that the CIC was still working on applications that arrived earlier than the arrival date of those people's applications. I even told a call centre agent that I was sure something was wrong with my application, because people whose application arrived after mine, already got an AOR, but the agent only said "don't believe what you see out there on the internet".

What I'm trying to say is: as long as the above webpage still indicates that they're working on applications that arrived on 27 March (the arrival date of your application, at CPC-M) or earlier, most likely the call centre agent and MP won't be of much help, as they don't normally help people when their normal processing time isn't yet passed. However if that webpage says 27 March + 1 day (i.e.: 28 March) or beyond, and you still haven't got your AOR, then yes you should immediately call the CIC and get in touch with your MP.

Essentially, the current "29 days" bit doesn't matter at all....it's the cutoff date that the CIC looks at, to determine whether or not they'll help you...

About that link you posted, that info was last updated on April 16. If we extrapolate April 16 : March 18, then today, April 23 : March 25, meaning March 25 will be the 29th day.

I think I will wait till Monday for SA and if not, I'll start calling them up, if no response for 3 days, I'll give MP a call

Im glad to hear that because of their mistake, they didnt lose your place in line, but I am kinda surprised it took you a year from SA to get your visa issued, even your interview was waived, wtf?

Well let's just stay positive. I'm pretty sure the OP's application is just fine and didn't suffer from any ordeal the way mine did. "Thankfully" only my forms vanished, and they were relatively easy to redo (my wife had to get a brand new police certificate though). If our relationship proofs were lost, we certainly would've been even more devastated...as it took us almost 3 months to collect and compile everything together...

Yes let's hope on Monday the webpage will say 28 March or beyond. My application arrived at CPC-M on 30 January 2013, and once that webpage said "Working on applications received on January 30, 2013", I immediately called the call centre to request them to look into my case, and they still said "we can't do anything as they're still processing your application. Call us again after we've gone past your normal processing time."
It really sucks and they're so strict about everything  . If you decide to call the CIC next Monday, my advice is, try to talk to more than 1 agent....it's just that some agents may be more lenient than others. It's worth trying and certainly doesn't hurt to call them.

About my application: well since it's going through Singapore (2nd longest processing time in the world), it's considered "normal" that it took a little over a year for my wife's visa to be issued (hoping to have her passport (+visa) returned to her soon!) despite not having to attend an interview, because people who do have to attend an interview, in fact have to wait for 2 years or more, before getting their visa (and that's ***IF*** they pass the interview). The interview queue itself is about 1 year.

The interview questions are pretty straightforward, but an applicant whose first language isn't English, sometimes provide inconsistent or inaccurate answers, just because of anxiety......causing them to fail... =/

Someone I know, who applied through Singapore, got her visa in only 6 months. That was such a very, very rare luck.....probably the officer just won a lottery :).

i'm in the same boat as you. I have sent my application in feb and was received on the 21st and since then have not heard anything from CIC. Called today and they said they will fill in a inquest to the office to hunt my application. Luckily i saved the receipt and was able to prove when and where my application was received. All the best to you!

You shouldn't worry too much. When CPC-M received my application, the processing time was at 28 days. Many people that have applied after me got their AOR and SA, but I had no news from them. Eventually though, after 36 days, I received AOR and SA on the same day, 30 mins apart.

My GCSM notes say they opened my package one day before they issued SA. Also, it took me about 2 weeks till I was able to log into ECAS. Remember, CIC works in mysterious ways :)

That's ridiculous, so for 35 days, your package was just sitting there, not even opened yet, even though their processing time was 28 days. I won't stand for delays though, I will call them up when Monday passes.

Thanks a lot for all of your sharing! And good luck to everyone!

We will try to stay positive and follow up in any possible way. Although this is rare situation, but given the large volume of application they receive, not an entire surprise this would happen.

Anyway, try our best and finger crossed.
