My NZ Tourist visa was declined once and I declared it on Canadian Study permit application with explanation. I got my study permit without any issues. The application clearly asks for previous visa refusals, visa cancellations or denied entry. It would be very silly to not declare. Fail to declare such visa rejections can cause you a hefty penalty and that could also affect you while applying for other countries.

exactly! I just dont understand why would somebody be penalized for being honest. Infact, the visa officers would be happy to see the honesty - like in your case and thousand others. If a person can lie on their study permit, then they are going to lie again in their PR and then citizenship and then god knows where else.

I agree. Being honest in your application proves that you would be a legit candidate. My agent was IDP, Dhaka Branch. They also told me to declare everything and for previous rejection it's best to declare with explanation. I did as advised. They showed me a case where a Bangladeshi applicant who previous studied in Australia, later he had visa cancellation for some reasons and he applied through IDP for Canada. He didn't declare his visa cancellation, neither let IDP know about his past case. Guess what happened...he not only got refusal but several years ban. IDP has very high success rate in terms of student visa processing. But this silly ignorance harms their reputation. Now if the applicant declares and even gets refused at least the applicant won't be banned and still can apply for other countries.
