How many times did you try? you can call CIC to make sure that you have the same information. Good luck

Actually the more information you put in the higher the chance they can't find your file...obviously the database search didn't employ fuzzy logic

I was able to link after 3 trials and I used:
My name (exactly like my name on the passport)
My date of birth
And the number of people is 2 (me and the sponsor)

That's all the info required to find my file...

Do I add my son or just 2 the sponsor and I? I have been at this for 3 days

That's my 5 tries up again oh well

If your son is accompanying you then you should put 3 (applicant, son of applicant, and sponsor) I guess?

No he already lives in Canada he is Canadian

I was finally able to link them, the only change I did was change the # of persons from 3 (because that is what we have on the app) to 2 (my husband & I), not sure why they only have 2, but it took me 14 tries (2+ days, since we were only allowed 5 tries per 24 hours).

Good Luck!!!

I cannot link -- tried everything, all permutations and nothing makes sense.

For those who were successful, are you saying we should just add 2 (sponsor + me) for #applicants even though there are two additional dependents on the application (which would be 4 and of course it doesn't work ??

This is insane - their search or algorithms don't recognize any info. Common sense says the application number and UCI should be all they need to link or find an application since it's unique!!

I give up!!!

Today when I was able to finally link them, I had to go by name & birthdate (as it never acknowledged the UCI or application # I was given).
I tried his first name only (he's Egyptian so there are like 5 first names, lol) and last name, I tried 3 then I tried 2 (people).
Then I tried all 5 of his names (like on the passport) and I tried 3 then I tried 2 (people) and was successful.
I thought maybe they put the wrong place we were going to settle. Maybe they spelled a name incorrectly.

Leave out the passport info, the less you have the better (or so I read somewhere else).

Name, birthdate, city born, country born, place to settle, 2 people, that's it!!!

strange because when I tried to leave information blank, it required me to complete it...

Can you provide more details (i.e. you are sponsor linking applicant file to your myCIC, which main identifier did you select at the start - name, date of birth or UCI/Last name or ?? (I'm already locked out for both accounts as I've already tried 5 times)...

I entered the data exactly as it shows in our GCMS notes (old notes) - interestingly, the passport number was N 00xxxxxxxx (with the space between the N and the number)..

I submitted a technical issue report...we'll see if they respond :)

Yes. I also left out the passport information and it worked.

I was finally able to link my application today after being locked out almost every day.

Tips:
- Don't fill-in passport information. Less is more approach.
- Number of applicants should be 2. If you have any dependents (kids), don't link them. Only link 2 for Applicant + Sponsor.

It seems like it would work only if the sponsored person has received their UCI number.
In my case, the file got transfered, but we don't know the UCI number of my father who is the principal applicant.
Just linking with file number doesn't work for me

Do you actually get more information by linking your application here? Are they abandoning the old site? Are the notes you request via that separate process worth it?
