Some of you know me. I used to be an active member on the forum a while ago. My canadian dream started while I was on a Business visit to Toronto in 2014. I was impressed by the work culture and the whole environment and started exploring options to emigrate. I had a score of 438, which at that time, was not enough to get an ITA. An NOI from Ontario came as a blessing and I applied for it without a second thought. Little did I know at that time that it would take 1 year to get the Provincial nomination. The OINP class of Nov-Dec 2015 is pretty famous on this forum
. I got my ITA in November 2016 and submitted my e-APR in early DEC. I received my PPR in April 2017 and got the visa stamped the same month.
I used to work for a Canadian company in India and was hopeful to get a transfer once I got the PR. I had a word with my management and they were initially willing to send me there on delegation and then transfer me to the Canadian business unit. But to be on the safe side, I booked my tickets for 9th August. After initially accepting my proposal, they had a change of mind and were asking for more time. I had to resign and put pressure on them. I had to serve 2 months of notice period. A week before my last date, I was offered an opportunity and was interviewed by an onsite team in Toronto. The feedback from the team was positive and they were willing to transfer me. They asked me to withdraw my resignation. I asked for an official email that I am being transferred. They said I will receive an official communication in 2 business days. The whole thing made me happy and I shared the same with my family. When everything seemed to be falling in place, suddenly I was informed that the transfer process did not work out and I have to leave the organization on the planned last date. It took us some time to guage the situation and come back to reality as we were on cloud 9 till then. I later learnt that some one from the higher management did not like the thought of an employee getting a visa on his own. He thought that would set a trend for others to follow and people would be queueing up for transfer. Anyways, I had to tune my mind again and get set for job hunt once I land in Toronto. But this world still has a few good people in it. One of the directors of my company in Canada got in touch with me when I was just about to board my plane in Mumbai and asked me to call him as soon as I land in Toronto. I did call him a day after I landed here. We had a very good discussion and the next day I reveived a job offer from the same company. Monday 21-Aug is going to be my first working day here. I am very excited and happy that I could secure job with in a week of landing.
I can assure all the people on this forum that there are more than enough opportunities for IT engineers in GTA. Contacts are the key to find them. If you are already working for an MNC in India with a presence in Canada, try to talk to people working here. Project yourself as a potential candidate. You may not receive instant results. But you will never know. Someone might pave you the way once you are here in Canada. Please take note that hiring is usually a costly process. People will surely take notice if you approach through proper channels.
I wish everyone a speedy ITA, PPR, landing, Job and settlement in this beautiful country. Live your Canadian dream...
