It was in any case going to be a 'repeat telecast'. At the outset let me clear some things.
1. It could be a repetition but I would highlight that it is fresh and a genuine from begin to finish case.
2. I have used many of the materials many of the lads had already provided here.
3. I will follow and share my experience and hassles and frustrations on a live basis.
4. You can obviously join in to share and vent out whatever you have. Who knows? We may be helping each other.
So, what did I do first?
The famed eligibility test. Quite tricky it is.Some times I was eligible, sometimes No. Probably, I was just looking at the options and was fooling around with 'work temporarily, come with family, permanent living, work and move' etc... Turns out what I was actually planning to do suited them - Work and move there. Having got this satisfaction, I moved to a professional agency.
That you are not being conned, I found out that there is a list of registered and authorised guys list.
There are some other lists which the website of the Canandian immigration gives and you could check that too.
Then, i had to formalise my tests. Thing is that I had put some approximate IELTS and TEF scores to be eligible which were still worse than what I actually received.
So, I booked my dates for the exam. What is there to note? IELTS' dates are quicker and cheaper. TEF are more expensive and take more time to send your results (some 3 months compared to ~14 days for IELTS). Also, there are many TEFs (TEF, TEFAQ, TEF CANADA etc). I chose TEF Canada. Looked more appealing than limiting myself only to QUEBEC. Of course, even for IELTS or TEF, we are expected to choose the GENERAL training course than ACADEMIC, unless you prefer to showcase your superb linguistic skills. I chose not to.
Then, comes the next step. Equivalence. Currently the most challenging part because I am dealing with my Indian University and they are very demanding. They are insisting for the originals to certify the docs. I tried all ways but could not find a way through without seeing the originals. Mind you! I even contact the embassy to help me. They refused the embassy and wanted to see the originals! standards you see!
Well, that having been tried, I have a friend there helping me out, He will present the originals for the pleasure of the officials and hopefully everything will be sorted out. Next step: Once I get the attested document, I would send to WES using their reference on the envelope etc. Now, the advice I can give is that while you are waiting for the exam to come, especially for TEF, apply for the equivalence from your university meanwhile to save time. I believe, universities would take some time and we could make better usage of the time because in any case, the university would take its time and and WES too.
For the time being, that's it and I will update when I have new events.
