My 5 months experience in Canada.

Congratulations and welcome to Canada, i am also new here arrived in June still wating to start working as i am a RN and the license process is very long and frustrating. I hav had an interview and job offer thank God but because of no license i will be working as an unregulated support worker in the mean time and i will be earning a living. i think one should consider 3-4 options and plan and prepare to take the licensing tests in all the 3-4 options within 2-3 months of landing and this should help in getting better jobs....
for example if your a doctor you can teach medical assisting, work as medical assistant, medical office administration,medical transcription, ecg technician, dialysis technician etc etc... the licensing tests for these should not be difficult for a doctor. so prepare for the test once you get PPR. and take the test within 2-3 months of landing.
Guys this is what I feel.... correct me if i am wrong....

I am going to finish in December work for one year and then start my LPN. It is a good industry there is always work and you do not need to stress looking for work.

Yes Columbian they are a money making institution. They take all students even if you are not qualified they will take you.

Well there are different options and it will all depends on your job searching skills. You can land a better job as soon as you land in B.C.

Yes friend i think it is a good idea to prepare before hand. It is a good idea to be positive, but after being in Canada for 5 months, i would like to think, not only of the theory, but the realities and the practical way things will happen when you are here. If you think about the way you will see how things are very easy theoretically and then the realities that makes it impossible, or takes a long time to happen then you can make it here in Canada.

I am not being negative, but please be well prepared with some money for the start before picking up you 1st job.it might take a little longer than you expect, especially if you want a job only in your field.

It all depends on the kind of life style you want you are your family to live. Like for example we were just eating home and do not go out to eat always. until we were stable.
