I applied for trv for my daugther as me and my husband already have the trv for 5 yrs which was issued before she was born. I provided all documents but no sponsorship letter as i thought it wont be necessary. Today i recieved a letter along with her passport saying that the application is rejected and reason for rejection was
1) travel history
2) purpose of visit
She is only a toddler so obviously wont have a lot of travel history and i clearly stated purpose of visit in form as being a family visit as my parents and family live in canada. So i am really puzzled as to why was the visa rejected. We are permanent resident of uk. If anyone could guide me what to add with new application. I have a sponsor letter from my parents in canada but i have a scanned copy and not original one as it will take days to reach and i want to apply sooner. Or should i wait for the original sponsor letter to come. Please let me know where have i gone wrong in filing the application of my daugther. Thanks

You are right, a toddler would not have travel history and the only reason for visit she would have is that her parents are going there. Do not focus on the couple of ticked off boxes. Take a step back and look at your entire application. Perhaps you can reapply for her and include a letter of explanation that spells it all out for them. Mention the fact that she was born after you and your husband obtained the 5-year visa. Tell them the purpose of visit is to be with her parents while you visit Canada (and tell them why you are visiting Canada). If I were you, I would even ask them if they expect me to leave my toddler behind while I visit Canada. Don't expect them to know anything, spell it all out for them in a letter.

Also, I wonder if you thought there is no possible way they can deny her the visa and therefore you did not include ALL the necessary documents including her birth certificate.

Again, don't focus on the couple of checked-off boxes they used as excuse to deny her. Think about the entire application and what more you can include when you reapply for your baby.

Good luck.

This game is really dirty!

They wouldn't issue a visa to a toddler?? Disgusting!!
They know a mother won't give up but reapply. An easy way to charge double the amount.

I second O_guy, I would challenge the decision.

Thanks gor ur replies. Jayson i cannot challenge their decision as they have clearly mentioned that this application is closed and i have to reapply now. O_guy i included all the document including her birth certificate, my husband bank statements, our passport, canada trv visa and pr cards copies. I thought sponsorship wont be important as u both also mentioned that i ill never leave my child and go alone. Anyways i ill be making a fresh application along with sponsorship from my parents for my daugther but dont know what to expect this time. I am also writing a good cover letter trying to explain them everything. Lets see what happens this time. What really annoys me is that she will get her brtish passport in five months and i wont even need a visa for her then But i have to go to canada next month due to some family commitment..

I think this is just an isolated case. The VO decision is final - you cannot challenge the decision - you can only re-apply if you have new supporting. Even my 6 year old relative got a visa and would be visiting us with his parents this friday.

However, I had to disagree with O_guy that some toddlers travels with their parents, therefore have travel history.

Steaky i agree with your point that child can travel with other but not all children. I will never let my child travel with even my own parents as i know its not an easy job to travel with kids and i dont trust anyone can take care of my child as much as i could. Anyways coming back to the point whether u agree or no reason given in this case are not relevant. I think the vusa officer did not even realized that the visa is for a toddler and her parents already have visas who are planning to go to canada and can in no case leave their child behind. And above all we all have PR of UK now but when i was given canada visa i was on work permit dependent visa so does that even make sense. So i think the visa officer was not even thinking what he is doing. And i recieved her passport in three days of submitting application with vfs services which was superquick. Anyways i am going to apply again next week. Lets see what happens this time.

I would like to ask everyone that is it ok to sumit a copy of sponsor letter from my parents as the original document will take days to arrive by post and i want to apply sooner. I have a copy of scanned sponsor letter. Kindly let me know if u have ever heard of visa being rejected on basis of this. Thanks

Perhaps you can ask your parents in Canada to provide you a letter of invitation - they would providing you a place to stay, pay your living expenses while your family are here and take you, your wife and the kid for shopping/sight-seeing in Canada? This can be scanned and the original is not necessary. Submit this letter with your new application to the VO again.
