Must the employment reference letter be original (not photocopy)

Hi all,

Submitting an original employment reference letter may be easy for some, but for me as my manager works in a different province, he had to scan the signed letter and send the soft copy to me. I am wondering if it is okay to submit the scanned reference letter instead of the original hard copy? Anyone has similar experience?

Thanks all!

The document checklist requests "copies" of work experience information, including employer letters (originals may be requested later).

It is "okay" to send the copy of the scanned document to CIC, it will be accepted and processed.

Meanwhile, you might want to ask your manager to mail you the original document to you in case if CIC asks for it in future.
